Acer 24" LCD Monitor July 8, 2008 Connie Shea (Joplin MO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been very pleased with this monitor. The clarity is excellent, I do a lot of graphic art work in my business and this is one of the best monitors for the fine detail work that I do. The zoom factor is perfect for what I need it to show. The service with Amazon was perfect, it arrived when it was scheduled to in perfect condition. Thanks for the service.
Works ok with my 360 June 22, 2008 Lap Tran I use this with my 360, using the Microsoft VGA cable. br / br /At 1280x1080 there is a serious overscan issue. There are not enough menu options to make the picture fit onto the screen. I don't know if this overscan is the fault of the monitor or the 360. br / br /At 1368x768, I had to fiddle a little with the horizontal position and what the menu calls "clock" (what seem like the horizontal stretch) br / br /At the other available resolutions the auto-set button fit the picture to the screen without any manual adjustments. br / br /I use it at 1368x768 with the manual fiddling of h position and stretch. The picture looks good, if a bit on the high contrast. The colors are good. There is no visible ghosting. br / br /You also get a dvi-d port so I guess you could use an hdmi to Dvi connector for your elite or ps3, but I haven't tried that. br / br / br /Added 8/3/08 br /Just realized that when I set the 360 to 1366x768, the monitor actually is doing 1280x720, which explains having to adjust the h stretch and position. br / br /This will probably be true of most computer LCDs that are used thru the VGA or HDMI cable for the 360. br / br /I now use the 360 at 1280x1024 set to widescreen mode. No manual adjustments required. Picture looks great. I hope the 360 fall update will include a 16x10 resolution that this monitor supports. The monitor manual doesn't list any of the supported resolutions. br / br /Added 8/26/08 br /Now that I know what to look for, I tried adjusting the contrast and brightness with the THX optimizer on the Monster's Inc DVD. br / br /The contrast is factory set much too high so that off-whites were showing up as pure white as well. I had to adjust down the contrast to get that setting to look right. br / br /This monitor apparently can't show deep blacks very well. Every band on the brightness test screen was visible no matter how low I turned down the brightness. Additionally, adjusting the brightness affects the dimness of the screen rather than affecting the black levels. br / br /There are no adjustments for sharpness. br / br / br /Also, contacting Acer customer support for the list was a complete waste of time.
This is 6 bit TN panel April 29, 2008 S. Kanakakorn (CA, USA) 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
This is a 6 bit TN panel not 8 bit P-MVA panel. There are other 6 bit TN panels at better price than this one. The better Acer one to get is AL2416WD around four hundred dollars. If you are a photographer, skip this monitor.
