Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
A model of amazing portability, Samsung's YP-MT6X digital-audio player is smaller than a pack of chewing gum but still very big on features. The tiny (2.3 x 1 x 1-inch) player offers 512 MB onboard memory for about 8.5 hours of 128 kbps digital music, an FM radio tuner, radio recording, a built-in condenser microphone for voice recording, and a stereo analog line input so you can encode your own MP3s directly from your cassette tapes, LPs, TV, you name it--with no computer interface required. It helps to have a PC, of course, when you're converting your CDs to MP3, WMA, ASF, or Ogg Vorbis (an open-source format that tends to sound a bit better, on average, than an equivalent-sized MP3 file). File transfers from your computer to the YP-MT6X are a breeze with a USB 2.0 connection (cable supplied), and the device is also compatible with USB 1.1 computers. You can use the YP-MT6X for file storage and transport, too--simply drag-and-drop from your Windows OS--irrespective of its abilities as a media player. Tailor your audio using the player's 8 preset equalizer curves, or engage its onboard SRS WOW processing, which simulates vivid 3D sound from any source. A single AA battery (included) is good for an amazing 42 hours of continuous playback, and the player's 4-line backlit LCD provides a clear view of each file's ID3 tag (artist, track) information. The perfect companion for your workouts, commutes, and travel. What's in the Box MP3 player, 1 AA battery, a neck strap, a direct-connect USB adapter, a carrying case, stereo earphones, a USB cable, an installation CD, an in-line encoding cable, a user's manual, and warranty information. p table width="100%" border="0" bordercolor="#FFFFFF" tr td width="70%" height="308" align="left" valign="top"strongChoose your music. 5 out of 5 stars This is The One You Want   November 30, 2007

I have 3 of these mp3 player/recorders and I love them. Lets get right to why. First, this Yepp has a user-replaceable battery. Second, it has an mp3 encoder. I listen to talk radio while I work, but don't get up early enough to listen to the programs. I use my Yepps for recording from an external source (a small Walkman radio)amd listen later. Most m03 players being made today use built-in batteries which, when they will no longer take a charge, can either be thrown out, or you can send them back to the manufacturer for an expensive battery replacement. That is a deal killer as far as I am concerned. This Yepp uses a commonly available AA-battery. I use Energizer rechargeable NiMH batteries, and get enough of a charge to encode 5 hours of programming with enough charge left to play all that I have recorded. The mp3 encoder,in this little machine, works just great for encoding an external audio source. You have your choice of sampling rates which will allow you to record for a longer period for talk, or a shorter, higher quality recording for music etc. What more could you want? Navigation through the various control features is easily accomplished, and you'll have it down in no time. This is definitely the mp3 player to get. Too bad they are becoming scarce. Buy one while you can!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent buy...   May 17, 2007

This is an excellent buy in an mp3 player. I bought my first one two years ago and it's still going strong. The battery life is unbelievable. I have purchased two more, as gifts, since then. This Samsung player holds over 150 songs, picks up FM radio and records... I haven't used the record feature except to test it. br /The sound is very good through the provided earbuds but after 6 months, I upgraded to a more comfortable pair. Read the manual thoroughly, some of the tuning and equalizer controls take a couple of step to find. br /If you can still find this model, new or reconditioned, buy it... you'll like it.

4 out of 5 stars Great little player, good sound, long battery life   May 7, 2007

I got this as a spare and it works great, small, great sound, 40 hours br /on one AA battery and cheap, this was a great deal. br / br /Great for music but not so good for audiobooks, while has resume the br /fast forward/rewind is way to slow for large MP3 files, if you split the br /books into 2-3 minute tracks they don't always play in the correct order. br / br /Still a great deal though. br / br /

5 out of 5 stars Very economical and well-featured player   March 16, 2007

I've had the mp3 player for only acouple of days so far, but it works great, I can't stop listening. The player is very handy, pocketable, and the FM tuner is a good bonus. You probably won't get good reception off the stock tuner presets, however. I just use the manual tuner. I don't plan on using the voice recorder, but I can see how it might be handy sometime, say if I needed to take a quick note or such. br / br /Shipping was incredibly fast, and the product was WELL PACKAGED to prevent damage in transport. Out of the box, this player was a snap to get working. I just put the included CD into the drive, it installed, and from there on it's drag-and-drop for tunes. br / br /I can say, however, there is one significant issue. The joystick-dial is basically the same one as on my Samsung camcorder, and they atleast seem to be fragile, if not so, and I suggest users be careful and patient with the controls. Otherwise, nothing unusual. I give it 5 stars because for the price, it comes with a great array of features, and is very simple to use. The best example of Plug-and-Play electronics. br / br /It also features a removeable battery, which is in my opinion important. Several different mp3 players and similar electronics have an internally located rechargeable battery which cannot readily be removed, so if the battery wears down, malfunctions, or otherwise has a problem, you have to return the entire player for service, or buy a new one. Using a single AA, very practical, and solves the proprietary battery issue quite well.

I couldn't be happier with this MP3 player. It comes with a small USB adapter and a USB cable if you need more length. Transfers file quickly right through windows explorer. Don't use the software they supplied, it's much slower. Sounds great and has a standard 3.5mm jack so you can easily plug in a better set of headphones. The buds that came with it sound good but don't stay in my ear very good. Got another set that wrap around the ear at Walmart for $5.99.
