Product Description Samsung NV10 offers still pictures that are sharper and more detailed than most digital cameras around. This 10-megapixel digital-camera features the distinctive Life-Style appearance along with an innovative Smart-Touch control pad, a sleek, brushed black aluminum body and compact design. The NV10, measuring just .7-inches thick, includes a Schneider 3x optical zoom lens (35-105mm equivalent), a 5x digital zoom and a large, 2.5-inch color LCD display. Advanced Shaking Reduction (ASR) provides enhanced image clarity by electronically compensating for excess hand shake and improving color in environments lacking sufficient lighting where the use of the electronic-flash is not desirable. For crystal-clear images under various shooting conditions, the NV10 features 11 scene modes, including Night, Portrait, Children, Landscape, Close-up, Sunset, Backlight, Fireworks, Beach Snow and Text Recognition. Text Recognition, a feature unique to Samsung digital still cameras, allows users to shoot documents such as books, papers and magazines and then extract text from the image taken using the bundled ?Digimax Reader? text recognition software. BR In addition to its incomparable still picture quality, NV10 can record in VGA (640x480) at 30fps, for smoother video and a larger view of the movie on LCD and TV screens. It also includes a movie stabilizer function that automatically detects and corrects minor lateral and vertical camera movement. For additional control, the continuous video recording function allows the user to pause and resume video recording at any time, while the built-in movie editing function allows users to edit video in-camera. There are also several special effects functions for creative control in-camera, such as Color Effect, Highlight, Photo Frame, Negative and Composite Shot. Color effects include B/W, sepia, blue, green and red. Overall, a great camera for all seasons and reasons. Autofocus

MY SAMSUNG NV 10 October 15, 2008 William F. Patterson (IRVINE, CA) I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THIS CAMEERA. IT IS SMALL AND TAKES VERY SHARP PICTURES. ANTI SHAKE WORKS GREAT. HAVE NOT HAD ANY DIFFICULITIES USING ALL THE FEATURES OF THIS CAMERA.
Convenient camera (but user manual is a little vague) October 6, 2007 Ashiko (Bay Area, CA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have a Nikon D80 Digital SLR and an older Sony DSC-V1 digital camera. But I wanted a smaller camera that I could easily carry around everywhere and use at any time. br / br /I tried the Canon Elph, the Nikon Coolpix, and others in a local camera store. But they were either too slippery to hold, or too big/heavy, or lacked a decent wide angle, or didn't support decent manual modes. Then I tried the NV10. WOW! br / br /SMART TOUCH br /The camera manual is a little vague about this. Swipe-and-pause (not press) from one button to its neighbor scrolls pictures one-by-one. Swipe-and-pause across more buttons scrolls faster through multiple pictures. To keep scrolling without swiping over and over, swipe-and-pause but end on the very last button on the left, or on the second-to-last button on the right. br / br /The Zoom button lets you zoom out to view multiple thumbnails in a photo album view (swipe-and-pause to scroll left/right/up/down) and then zoom in for the full view of a selected picture. br / br /SIZE/GRIP br /This camera is skinny! I have (previously) uploaded a picture to Amazon showing the camera with a dime for comparison. br / br /It has a decent grip, and it's slightly longer than most of the other comparable cameras I tried. But you could try it in a store to decide for yourself. br / br /PICTURE QUALITY br /It only supports JPG (no TIFF or RAW formats). By default, it's set on JPG Medium, but you can set it to JPG Fine. br / br /To give you a sense of the colors, the grain, issues with the image at the corners, low-light handling, and shake reduction (or not), I have previously uploaded an uncropped picture of some jelly fish (at an aquarium), taken handheld with no flash in Automatic mode. The only light was from the soft/dim light inside the tanks. The room was dark because these jellies don't tolerate light well. br / br /MANUAL SETTINGS br /You usually only get two F stop choices available at any time. (F2.8 and F7.1 commonly appear, but the these choices change when you zoom.) br / br /SHAKE REDUCTION br /The ASR is digital, not optical. So, it's not the same as having a vibration reduction lens. (Also, the manual indicates that you need to enter a special shooting mode to get the ASR. So, apparently you don't get ASR most of the time.) br / br /SD CARD br /The manual guarantees compatibility with 1GB max. I haven't tried a 2GB card yet. br / br /The camera also has 20MB of internal memory built in, so you can actually take a couple of pictures even *before* you buy a card (or after you fill up a card). br / br /REMOTE br /There's a remote available in certain countries, but I have yet to see it available (by itself, at least) in the US. br / br /BATTERY LIFE br /Once you get past the newbie need to use up battery life while fiddling with learning to use the camera, it doesn't seem too bad. The batteries are very small (as shown in my uploaded picture), so it's easy to carry a couple of extras. br / br /ZOOM br /The 3X optical zoom is OK. The newer Samsung NV11 has a 5x optical zoom (but maybe Samsung traded that for something that I would miss). The NV7 has a 7X optical zoom (but it's a bigger camera). br / br /I've had the NV10 for nearly a year now, and I'm pleased with it. br /

Big pixel, small camera. August 6, 2007 S. thailimthong (USA) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Just bought NV10 a month ago before i traveled to Europe. Great point and shoot camera with many features. May be 10 Mega pix are a bit too much for amateur like me. Hope one who wants to buy a new camera like it.
