This is my 3rd MP3 player. I had a creative player (large 40GH). Next I had this one, but with 1G. I liked that one so much that I bought this one for my wife (I got tired of her taking mine!)
Here is why:
1. It uses 1 AA battery. I don't have to wait on it to charge for hours like on the Ipod. I don't have to worry about sending this in to get the battery changed like some of the others. These batteries are available anywhere in the world, or I can recharge using a 15 minute charger.
2. It acts as a USB mass storage drive. All I do is copy my songs over and they work. It's USB2 and moves them fast. I don't have to use Windows if I don't want to. I can use a Mac or Linux and it works just as well on any system!
3. I like using the OGG format instead of WMA or MP3. Though it can play all 3 (it won't play the WMA protected files though). Beware of getting wma protected files. If you have to reformat your computer, your screwed even if you have backups. I found out from experience.
4. The ear buds sound good. They are engineered for a good overall sound and not too much bass or to much treble.
5. The sound preferences is adjustable for your taste.
6. The FM radio receiver works great. I believe it uses the earphone wires as an antennae. The reason I think this is because I used a different set of earphones and the FM wouldn't work well at all.
7. Recording works well, but it sucks alot of juice.
8. Normal good quality batteries will last about 40 or more hours at a time.

I had a need for a small AA-driven mp3 player, and this one certainly fit the bill ! I had trouble loading it to full capacity until I upgraded the firmware. I installed v3.180 and have since had zero problems. I am completely happy with this player. It is extremely easy to use and has great sound.

I love it. I have had several MP3 players over the last few years, and keep coming back to this one. The simple reason is that it takes a standard AA battery. None of the other do. Heck knows why the manufacturers insist on internal batteries, because when you are miles from civilization trudging through the bush, easy replacement of a battery available at any corner store is a PRIORITY! Oh, and the AA battery lasts longer than any of the internal batteries... Figure that one out!

I bought this for my 12 yr old son for Christmas. He absolutly loves it. It is very easy to use. He is always on the go and seems to hold up to an active kid. We have had not problems with it. It holds a lot of songs. It is very easy to use and quite easy to download CD's onto it.

I listen to a lot of music on one battery. I have spent 4 days listening to music all day at work on one AA battery. The FM tuner is really useful when I want to listen to news or the radio. The voice recorder comes in handy now and then, plus I can record from the radio or from the output of another device. I have dropped this several time with no ill effects.
Pros: Great battery life! Uses AA battery. Voice recorder, FM tuner, 512MB is actually a lot of music. Small size. Great sound. Seems durable.
Cons: Needed to upgrade firmware to make software reliable. Interface initially not intuitive, but it is easy now that I am used to it.
