Product Description
The launch of the HT-S6100 marks another milestone for Onkyo: the company's first receiver/speaker package to simultaneously handle 1080p video and bit-for-bit audio processing. The HT-S6100 anchors your home theater by integrating the full potential of high-definition media and high-definition displays. With an HDMI platform as good as it gets, you have every reason to be impressed. But the HT-S6100 is also going to take analog sources and upscale them to HD-friendly 1080i resolution for HDMI output. Featuring some valuable options - single-cable dock connectivity for iPod, Audyssey room acoustic correction technologies, and integrated control with other leading brand-name devices - this receiver/speaker package puts the emphasis on value for money.

5 out of 5 stars I can do it all with this.   October 29, 2009
Andrew D. Brown (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)
After researching and researching and researching I finally picked the Onkyo HT-S6100 7.1 surround sound speaker package. I love it. I currently have my PS3, Ipod, HDTV, and my HD cable box all hooked up to it!! It's all hooked up in HD and it looks and sounds great with all of them. I had a party at my apartment and was playing my Ipod thru it and it BUMPS. It's really easy to set up (all wires are color coded) and it is really easy to use. Granted I am pretty technically savvy, but even if you weren't I don't the set up and use being that hard. I don't see any cons with this product, and I got a refurbished one too and it was in perfect condition.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Surround Sound   October 18, 2009
Alan D. (Georgetown, MA)
I have had my surround sound for a while now, and I love it. This surround sound sounds amazing, and the price is well under what this system is really worth. This adds an entire new dimension to watching movies. I have not had a single problem with this system, and I have had it for over 6 months. This is amazing, as just about every other piece of technology I own is constantly having issues. Fantastic Product, Amazing Value.

4 out of 5 stars Great for the price!   October 2, 2009

This system really hits hard. The satellites are not as clear or as detailed as a good set of $300 monitors, but they are pretty impressive for movies. Positioning is pretty much spot-on. br / br /The menu system is incredibly easy to adapt to. Even your grandma that asks you to help her program her VCR could probably figure this thing out. You don't need to output to a TV to use the core menu system, but it is a nice addition. After about two weeks of use, you can point the remote and press a series of buttons without even looking just to change what you want. It's nice! br / br /The sub woofer is really good as well. It doesn't become very muddy like cheaper 5.1 system subs do. It's nothing amazing, but it's damn good. br / br /The receiver really looks and feels like you paid $800+ for it when you use it. Brushed aluminum everywhere, tons of features and buttons.. even LCD display dimming which helps a ton when you want to fall asleep to a movie! br / br /If you want a cost-effective 7.1 system that will knock your socks off when you watch a Blu-Ray movie, get this!

4 out of 5 stars great but maybe enough with lower system   August 21, 2009

so far it is beautiful. not yet try it for long enough with volume level i wanted...if youre crazy about the sound but want to get just a great sound...i think you could go lower than this one. bought samsung HT in a box for $1xx...the difference is not 6x better by paying onkyo $6xx....even though samsung player has its own thing as well.

5 out of 5 stars Audio Bliss   August 5, 2009

Others have done a fine job delineating the fine technical qualities of this unit. I bought it on sale from Vanns about 6 months ago--one of the best transactions I've ever had. Vanns is phenomenal! As for the HTS 6100, I've had Onkyo before, as well as Bose and Denon. While the latter two had their good points, the cost was not entirely justified by their ultimate quality. What I've found is that the 6100 gives me the same glorious, room-filling sound as my friend's $2400 Bose system and another friend's $2100 Denon home theater system. And now we can play our Blu-Ray discs with all the new codecs and hear it all! br / br /What we love about the Onkyo is the shimmering treble and rumbling bass, neither of which distorts at higher volume levels. The midrange renders voice much more clearly than we had been exeriencing. The calibration system is very useful. If I had any bone to pick with this unit, it's that assigning sound characteristics to various channels requires a bit of manual reading more than I would like. I'm sure they'll find ways to make the user interface in this regard a little friendlier. Other than that, we love this unit and just wanted to add our voices to the rest of those who do as well. We are delighted with it!
