4 out of 5 stars very good printer with low price   January 6, 2009
J. Cho (USA)
The price is low compared to other manufacturers and the quality of print is fantastic. Most of all, I like the four separate ink cartridges so I can easily check which one needs to be replaced soon. Also the price of ink cartridge is not expensive. One drawback is it is a little bit noisy.

4 out of 5 stars solution for half empty cartriges   December 25, 2008

I had problem with color cartridges being sensed empty while were still half full and find easy solution. br /Cartridges have clear window on front side where you can see trough. When you shake you can see remaining ink. br /I used liquid paper (white out) to paint the window. After minute you can insert it back and sensor will sense full cartridge so you can use your ink till last drop. br /

4 out of 5 stars Uses very little ink   December 18, 2008
Daniel Chouinard (San Francisco, CA USA)
I've had this printer for a few months and haven't had any trouble. My only complaint is that the paper tray is shallow, so it runs out of paper frequently. The best thing about it is that it uses very little color ink when printing ordinary black ink documents---practically none. My previous printer, an Epson, used lots of color ink for black and white documents "so that the ink jets won't dry out and clog," as the company says. I've saved a lot of money after switching to a Brother.

5 out of 5 stars Great down-to-business machine   December 17, 2008
Seth T. Hoffman
I chose this all-in-one over the comparable Epson and Canon models because it was a machine that did what it said without a lot of fancy gimmicks. After using it for 6 months now, I'm glad I made the right choice. br / br /Pros: br /1. It's a solid, well built machine that has held up well. br /2. The drivers are simple and don't take up a lot of computer resources (you can even skip installing the extra features or install them and just open the program when you need to scan, etc). Unlike the HP I used to have, you can actually just install the printer and scanner driver if you choose, rather than 1 gig of bloated software just to print a letter. br /3. Generic print cartridges work just fine (no proprietary chips like Canon and Epson that make it hard to refill or use generic ink). br /4. The auto document feeder for the scanner is nice (and you can scan straight to PDF with the software). br /5. Newtorking is easy and works well when connected to a router (I have mine set up on my home WiFi network and can print from any computer on the network). br / br /Cons: br /There really aren't many for me: br /1. The fax feature isn't something I use, but for the most part it doesn't cause any problems. br /2. The copy feature could have more options (scaling, choosing a selection area to copy, etc). br / br /Overall, I recommend it as a good machine that does what you want it to without the seemingly fancy but frustrating features of other all-in-ones.
