 Good functional scanning pen April 16, 2008

I have used this scanning pen for only a few items, but it seems to work as advertised. The included documentation indicated that the pen would work 'out of the box,' but I had to download a dictionary to the pen in order to make it work. br /This is the second pen that I received. The first one seemed to be very erratic. The batteries didn't appear to work, so I used new ones that I had on hand. Then, sometimes a menu item would be available on the pen and the next time it was not there. As instructed by the help desk, I removed the internal card and cleaned the contacts. This made the original missing menu item appear, but then another was missing. The original batteries did work after my cleaning. I finally returned this apparently erratic pen and it was courteously replaced by another which is now working as expected and advertised.
