I work from home for a Fortune 500 Corporation, so all work that is not filed must be shredded. This model is by far the best for the money and gets the job done.

Great shredder. Fast not too noisy. Efficient.Needs a 3 prong plug. Be careful about the plastic plate that shifts to CD shredding. The joint breaks easily.Otherwise it's a sturdy hard working deivice. Very happy with it. I research all appliances and devices. This ranked very high.

This is the third shredder I have owned. It is far superior to the other ones I have had which, incidently, died within the first two weeks of ownership. It's extremely quiet and has performed as described. The only problem I had was the initial installation of the roller wheels that came with the unit.They were difficult to install without a rubber mallet.Two liner bags and a small bottle of shredder oil come with the unit.The shredder oil, I believe, is vegetable oil and the bags can be reused. A good value for the money. Great delivery from Amazon.

I was looking for a shredder to replace the one I had because, although rated to shred 6-sheets, it could only realistically shred three sheets at a time. I also needed a shredder to grind CDs. This Fellowes model does it all. It has a sensor that will tell you if the paper pile thickness is too much before it starts shredding---you place the pile of papers into the mouth slightly and lights on the top will tell you whether you are exceeding its thickness capacity. It will accept an incredible amount of paper. Even if you come close to its thickness capacity (without exceeding it), you can be comfortable knowing the shredder will grind the paper easily. CDs aren't a problem, either. The shredder is very quite, much quieter than my old, smaller shredder and not much louder than my printer. Lastly, it has a touch sensor that will keep the motor off if touched by fingers---great if you have small children, or if you aren't paying much attention because you don't find watching paper shred to be very captivating. The shredder comes with plastic bags for the bin, but I found it is just as messy emptying the hopper with the bags as without, so I don't use the bags.

I just unboxed the shredder last night, so the review is fresh from one night's use. I am stepping up from a lightweight waste basket top unit. The many reviews touting the shredding head are correct, I am commenting on the design subtleties. br /* There are no instructions in the owner's manual for oiling the shredder. It is stated that the shredder should be oiled with every empting, but the how and where are not stated. br /* This puppy is a significant piece of office equipment. Previously, I would put the shredder head in a drawer, and pull it out every week or so for a shredding session. The PS-79Ci works best when sitting on the floor, and as such you must commit a chunk of floor space for the shredder. I opted not to use the included casters. br /* There are two on and off switches. You must first have the power rocker switch turned on, and then you activate the shredder control micro switches with a front-panel push button. Sometimes simple is easier. Why not have just one switch that turns everything on and off? br /* The owner's manual has no recommendations as to the electrical state in which to leave the shredder between uses. br /* When the cutter is activated with the front-panel push button, a brilliant blue LED comes on. This light is bright enough to serve as a replacement nightlight in my home office. br /* The shredder comes with a couple plastic bags for the paper bin. I found that the shape of the paper bin did not accommodate the bag very well. The bags are also a stiffer plastic that does not conform to the bin interior, and the bag itself takes up a lot of volume. I wound up pitching the bags, for they don't work as wastepaper can liners due to their shape. br /* The bin takes a fair amount of force to remove and replace. I found that I needed two hands to get the bin to snap back in place. One hand is needed to push the bin while the other hand holds the shredder. This situation would be more pronounced if the casters were installed. It would be nice if bin replacement was a one-handed operation. br /* Shredded paper builds vertically above the bin level. You must first settle the pile, getting it below the bin top, before completely removing the bin. If you just yank the bin out, you may wind up with confetti all over the floor. br /
