Product Description Are you looking for a reliable, easy-to-use inkjet printer? Do you need an affordable option for school or home? Try the Lexmark Z11 Color Jetprinter. Lexmark's reputation for quality products ensures that your Lexmark Z11 will serve you well. With a 1200x1200 dpi resolution in both color and black, text and images are clear and sharp, and color is brilliant. The Z11 prints at speeds up to a steady 4 pages per minute in monochrome, and up to 2.5 pages per minute in color. There is even a cartridge ink gauge to show you when to change the cartridge. Accu-Feed paper handling system accepts paperweights from 16 to 150 lbs. And with one-click printer driver software installation, set-up is easy, and your Z11 will be set to use in no time.
Amazon.com Review The Lexmark Z11 is as small and as easy to set up as most ink-jet printers. This model's super-low price and tiny form make it a great buy for students and small and home office users.p The Z11 weighs in at only 4 pounds and measures a petite 14.25 inches wide and 12.9 inches high (only 6.1 inches high with the paper tray removed). The printer features power and feed buttons, both with companion LEDs.P As with all Lexmark models, the Z11 accepts fully contained cartridges that house both the ink and print heads, making replacements clean and quick. When you lift the front cover, the ink cartridge moves to a convenient loading position. The unit comes standard with a tri-color cartridge, but is unable to use both dedicated black and color cartridges simultaneously. The printer can accept optional high-resolution black cartridges, but does not take the company's photo cartridge.P Our setup of the Z11 took only minutes. Black text quality from the standard tri-color cartridge was not very impressive. However, we also tested the Z11 with the optional high-resolution black cartridge and found that the quality improved significantly. Photographs looked much sharper on coated paper than plain sheets. Although the printer is rated at up to 4 pages per minute (ppm) in black mode, the fastest performance we could get out of the unit was 2.55 ppm with the black cartridge in Quick Print mode.P Instead of offering a software bundle in the box, Lexmark's Quick Pick program lets you pick two free titles from an array of 10 graphics and photo-oriented programs. The flexibility is nice, but it can be inconvenient to have to wait for your software to arrive.P If you're looking for a basic ink-jet printer for casual home use or a budget-conscious dorm companion, the Lexmark Z11 is a perfect pick.P BPros:/Bbr UL LI1,200 x 1,200 dpi printing LICompact design and easy setup LIFlexible software bundle /UL P BCons:/Bbr UL LISlow text printing LIDoesn't handle black and color cartridges simultaneously LISoftware bundle is mailed separately /UL
Amazon.com Product Description The Lexmark Z11 inkjet printer offers amazing 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution for a very low price. If sharp text and vibrant color are what you're looking for, then this value-priced printer may be perfect for you.

I had this printer for 4 years....it's great for basic stuff. but I now have a digital camera, and found a printer where I can insert the memory card from my digital camera and upload my pics easier. pthis printer is kinda slow, only 4 pages per minute....brbut, the quality is good, and it didn't need any service in 4 years.pgreat for everyday usebrbut now that i'm getting into photos....I needed a better printer
Excellent value for the price January 26, 2003 Carlos Santiago (Virginia, USA) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
First of all, this is a parallel port printer, is not USB, which is the most current technology and and what all current printers are using, or so the purists say. For me, this old technology is not a bad choice at all. I own a 4-port USB hub and it is already at capacity with my other peripherals, so I'm lucky my printer is not USB because I would have had to either purchase an additional hub or remove one of the other devices.pThe printer is light, compact and very easy to install and setup (it has Plug N'Play technology).pThere is only one ink cartridge slot available on the printer, you may either install a color catridge (12A1980) or a black-and-white only cartridge(12A1970). The cartrdiges are pricey and if you do a lot of heavy printing, the total cost of ownership will be very high in a very short term.pPrinter speed is not the best, but you cannot ask for miracles at this price level. The good thing is that you can set up the print quality (draft, normal, best, custom) using the Properties option in Windows based on the document you are printing. This quality setup affects considerably the print speed and ink consumption levels. The factory default is Normal, but I changed it to Draft since I'm on the cheapskate group.pThe printer software keeps an ink-level estimate, warning you when a replacement is near. I've found that the warnings are a bit on the early side and that you can print for a while longer after it occurs.pThe only major problem I have found with the printer is the infamous paper jam (but who hasn't?) - Most of the times it has to do more with the paper and humidity factors than with the printer itself, but it is a pain to reset the printer after it happens.pI recommend this printer for anyone on a tight budget or if you are running out of the increasingly valuable USB ports.
