Excellent Product July 11, 2008 Liberty4all (New York, NY USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've had my P-Touch for a couple of years. I use it mainly to label keys. I used to stick on a tiny label and ink on the apartment number. Inevitably either the label would fall off or the ink would smudge until the identification was no longer legible. The P-Touch produces a label that stays on and remains legible. Bravo! br / br /My complaints: As has been noted elsewhere, the backing is not easy to get off the label. You need nails of a certain length to pry it off. My second complaint is that if you print a short label "6FW" for instance, and need to fit it on a key, you end up cutting off half the label as the letters themselves take up only 40% of the label. This is a minor complaint and admittedly somewhat specifc to my usage of the labels for keys.
Great Little Machine March 20, 2008 D. Austin (Walnut Cove, NC) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We've had this machine for a number of years now and it works great. It has several different sizes of lettering and a couple different widths of tape. It has been running on the same set of batteries since we bought it. I really like the automatic off, so that if I get interrupted I don't waste the batteries. Changing the tape is a snap. We've just not had any problems with this machine since we purchased it and we've labelled a lot of stuff.
Great little labeler July 9, 2007 Kannan (Chicago, IL) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
OK, I'm not one to write Amazon reviews, but since I am buying my second one for the office (I've had one at home for the past few years), I figured I should. This label maker is easy to use. I cut my fingernails short, and it's really annoying to peel labels off the backings of labels sometimes -- not so with this little guy. br / br /If I had to come up with a critique, I would say that when the label prints, there is a little too much wasted white space on the sides: nearly a 1/2 inch on each side. Considering that, for example "Warranties" takes up 1 1/8 inches with a standard font, that is almost 50% wasted space.
Home Hobby...and more! Great Labeler May 12, 2007 Ms. Consumer (Texas) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I purchased this product 2 years ago and am just now learning to do reviews so thought, why not do it now after I've had some experience with it? br / br /This labeler was recommended to me by a lady who has an organizing business. She uses it because the tapes don't peel off plastic tubs and book spines like some other brands. I have been very happy with the P-Touch. I had a cute green plastic Dymo labeler before I bought this one (still have it) and did notice the Dymo labels did peel off plastic storage tubs but the P-Touch labels stick! br / br /I also like that you can select vertical printing (to go on narrow spaces) and cute backgrounds like dots, candy wrapper, etc. and also there are many cute symbols it will print. I use this all the time for labeling storage, files, anything where neatness helps. br / br /I saw another reviewer commented that the batteries don't last even a day. I have not noticed this problem. I have had this 2 years and only changed the batteries once that I can remember (I don't use it constantly, either). I really don't see how the batteries could die that quickly since it has an auto-off function (turns off automatically after a few minutes if not used). br / br /I like the "qwerty" keyboard (laid out like your computer keyboard instead of alphabetical) which makes it a little faster to type. Easy to use since the font sizes styles are shown above the display for reference. I do find myself referring to the instructions for remembering special symbols (happy face, snoflakes, etc.) and frame styles (polka dots, stripes, wood grain). Great little gadget! No cons that I can think of.
