Product Description
The Candlestick phone, also known as the 'Upright' initially became popular during the early 1900s before the introduction of the one-piece handset. The first Candlestick phones were introduced when the magneto system was in use, which meant that the phone was connected to a large wooden box called a "subset" containing a battery, bell, and crank. But oh have we come a long way. From its bell-shaped mouthpiece to its cloth covered receiver cord, this telephone replica recalls a vintage instrument from the 1900's. But a closer look reveals some modern technology including a decorative dial that functions as a push button for tone/pulse operation as well as a center medallion that serves as a redial button. This modern day version of the Candlestick Phone would have surely made Alexander Graham Bell proud.

Good build quality, very solid. Cords are cloth covered like the originals. Earpiece feels weighty in my hand. It has controls for redial and flash hidden as a pushable center button. Tone/pulse, earpiece volume, and ringer off/on are switches under the base. br / br /I like its retro look. Ringer is a real bell sound (pleasantly nostalgic). br / br /I only marked it down one star because I would have preferred the sound and feel of a real, spring-loaded rotary dial, but the push-button tone dial is probably more useful for most people. br / br /You get what you see.

i bought this phone for my roommate for Christmas. It is very heavy and feels solid and well made. It is no an everyday phone since it is best held when used. It works well and sounds good while talking on it. People on the other end say it sounds like a regular corded phone. I like this phone and its style factor.

I've been wanting a phone like this for years and finally decided to splurge and buy it. I couldn't be more happy with it. It's a hefty, solid phone and the sound is clear as a bell. It's extremely attractive and I recommend it to anyone who likes retro items that work well.
