I used it as soon as I opened up the package it came in. The shredder is very simple to use. It shreds a lot of pages at once. The most I have tried was 11 pages and it shredded them perfectly. Pages seem to be so tiny when they are shredded that it's impossible for someone to piece them together. The cd's and credit cards I fed through turned to dust practically! This is my favorite product of the year!

After doing a ton of research I narrowed down to Royal 160MX br /Pros: br /* Actually shreds the edges br /* Does cross cut (i.e. uneven cuts) which is more secure br /* Shreds Credit Cards and CDs (The best Fellows shredder will only do long strip cuts which is not secure) br /* Very powerful and quite motor br /* LED Display will tell you status (Ready, bin full or overload) - plus a few more. br /* Draws less than 1 W of power in standby - so you can leave it connected br /* Auto start/stop when you insert paper br /* Switch to turn it off br /* Will shred staples but not paper clips (not a big deal) br /* Easy to empty bin br /* Will chew up complete sealed envelopes including the pesky junk mail offers br / br /Cons: br /* Bin could be larger - should be double the 28 liter included. I don't understand why they can't make bigger bins given that all it is but a plastic box does will cost only a few cents more br /* Bin full light comes up when the bin is 50% full. You have to open and shake /compress the paper - Sensor is not designed properly br /* Screws in bin can tear the trash liner which can sometimes cause a mess br /* Bin could be better designed to work with standard trash basket liners br / br /NOTE: The color of the product is White. The photo at Amazon is for 150MX which is white in color. br / br /Overall the cons are not big considering that if you want a heavy duty secure shredder for paper, CD and Credit cards; this is the only choice in town. If Royal fixes the above Cons they will have the best shredder in town. br /

Good shredder, Shreds cd, credit cards and envelops unopen with no problem. Large basket to shred a lot of paper.

WOW! Does this shredder work! Take your pre-appoved credit card offers and stick them unopened in this bad boy, and there gone. br /Great shredder for big or small shredding jobs. Very pleased!

I'm very satisfied with the Royal 160MX as a home use shredder. It efficiently cuts multiple sheets into secure size pieces, cuts credit cards/CDs and has a large capacity bin. Operation functions are clear and "user freindly". I first bulked at the price point. After using it, I feel it is well worth the price. br /Something to note: the telephone numbers Royal has printed in the manual are incorrect or changed. I hope this shredder yields years of good service and the wrong numbers become a mute point.
