Problem finding graphics card to support 1400x1050 September 22, 2007 John Farrell I got this monitor for my laptop and PC which are both connected to a KVM switch. The monitor works fine with the laptop since it supports 1400x1050. The problem is my PC which has Vista on it. I have not found a graphics card that supports 1400x1050 natively in VGA mode (my KVM switch only has a VGA connector). In XP, many graphics cards support manually inputting just about any resolution. With Vista, these same graphics cards do not have that feature. Supposedly, it is a problem with Vista. Just be warned if you want to use this monitor with a Vista machine using VGA. By the way, using DVI with the PC works great.
Excellent upgrade August 31, 2007 Robert L. Glasscock (Lower Alabama, USA) I needed to replace an aging CRT monitor for our photo retouching and typesetting business. I did not want one of the new "widescreen" monitors, and the Viewsonic filled the bill very nicely. Good color. Easy setup.
Great monitor for price June 24, 2007 Fly Guy (Northern California, USA) I wanted to supplement a 19" Sony Trinitron monitor with an LCD display. The CRT has a great picture, of course. Not being a gamer, my criteria is text display. After looking over a number of LCDs at Frys (sorry Amazon) I bought this one because: br / br /- it has excellent text rendering for an LCD, better than the other monitors at Frys until you get to some costing twice as much. br / br /- big viewing area for over-50 eyes. The wide-screen displays are deceptive, I didn't think they really offer much more screen area. And if I want more horizontal area I'll use the Sony. br / br /For quality alone this gets 4 stars. Factor in price and it's 5 stars. But I don't use it for much animated viewing: gaming or video/TV viewing.
Awesome Flat Panel Monitor With Spectacular Graphics. June 3, 2007 IT Professional (Indianapolis, Indiana) This is my second ViewSonic flat panel monitor. The graphics on this monitor are awesome. Seems like a few folks bought lemons. Initially, I purchased the monitor from CompUSA. However, there were blemishes on the screen that could not be removed so I returned it. Then I purchased another one from a local Micro Center store in my hometown while I was home for Memorial day. Moreover, don't let the "I-bought-a-lemon-reviews" deter you from purchasing this monitor. br /
Bigger is better May 31, 2007 Aloysious (Albuquerque, NM United States) I've owned a flat-panel monitor for a couple of years now (which I also have reviewed), and I love how space/weight efficient they are. br / br /But since I started working at home, I found that I required (depending upon who you ask in the house) a bigger screen. Having used ViewSonic at work, I was familiar with their quality (plus the price was quite reasonable). br / br /Even though I had free shipping (from CompUSA), it took just a little longer than expected, but when it did arrive, I was thrown back by the handy "suitcase" it came in (I'm still in the mind set of the old monster CRT's). br / br /The set-up was rather easy. The only question I had was about the "other" video cable (one I was not familiar with); and the instructions did not indicate as to whether I needed just the one "standard" monitor cable, or both (in which case I would have need a new video card, and was not going to be a happy camper). But I tried just "standard" cable, and everything worked as expected. br / br /There are also a couple small internal speakers; and I do mean small, so the sound is small tinny (not that I really do anything on my computer that requires real speakers). ViewSonic also provided a speaker cable (unlike my last monitor manufacturer). br / br /The menu buttons are on the side (which is fine), but the Indicator Icons on the front are just impressed into the case, and difficult to see. The menu is, as menus are, cumbersome, but not any more so than anyone else's (I'm just not a big fan of those style menus anyway). br / br /Over all, I love my monitor, and it is WAY bigger than my old 17". So, I'm happy!
