Amazon.com Product Description Ideal for home offices or small businesses that send out a high volume of mail, the PS50 postal scale helps you determine the correct postage for any item weighing between 0 and 5 pounds. The scale is equipped with four optimally placed single-strain gauges and a temperature-compensated load cell. In layman's terms, this means the scale is precise to within 0.1 of an ounce, so you needn't worry about your mail being rejected because of insufficient postage. In addition, the weighing platform, which measures 5.5 by 5 inches and is made of fine-textured, high-impact ABS plastic, sports a fold-up top for weighing oversized items, such as large flat envelopes or mailing tubes. Other conveniences include an easy-to-read seven-segment LCD display, a Tare function that lets you re-set the "zero" weight (great for weighing loose items in a container without counting the container itself), mechanical overload protection should you weigh an item that exceeds 5 pounds, and a five-minute auto-off function that preserves power. Plus, you can power the scale via either the included AC adapter or a separately sold 9-volt battery. The latter option is great for business professionals who travel frequently to trade shows and other on-the-go locations. The PS50 scale, which features a warm-up time of one minute and a minimum weight of 0.1 ounce, is backed by a one-year warranty on parts and labor. What's in the Box PS50 scale, AC adapter, user's manual.

Same as the Post Office June 27, 2008 K. Stanley (Panama City, FL USA) This is the same model that the post office would sell you - only for $10.00 more!
Much Better Than Mechanical Scale! June 21, 2008 A. Stagg (Virgnia, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
My wife has many craft hobbies and likes to sell things on EBay and other internet forums. This scale is perfect and much easier to use than a mechanical scale. Granted, it is more expensive than a mechanical scale, but you will be far less likely to make postage errors. As long as you don't need to weigh something that is more than 5 lbs, this scale is perfect.
Excellent scale for small packages February 18, 2008 William H. Schutten (Cape Cod, Massachusetts) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I mail a lot of small packages that weight in the range of 3 to 10 ounces. I usually cannot get to the post office during their regular business hours. Therefore, I need an accurate scale to determine postage so I can put the packages in a mail box. I bought a different scale on eBay for about $20. That scale died after about a week. Rather than waste more money, I decided to buy this regulation postal scale from Amazon. I figured that if it died, at least Amazon is great about returns so I wouldn't be out more money. I have had this scale for several weeks now, and it works like a charm. It is accurate to one-tenth of an ounce. I keep it plugged in with the included AC power source, so I cannot comment on battery life. I would highly recommend this scale to anyone who needs to accurately weigh small packages.
