Ppl just dont understand November 18, 2008 Shaun E. Phillips (london, ontario) Okay people I just dont understand how people do not know how dvds work yet...The person who said that this movie is a matted version on the full screen is WRONG wrong wrong!!! Some movies are shot in 1 37 1 which equals to full screen. When they are released at the theatres they are matted into 1 85 1 which is widescreen...Three christmas movies that come to mind are Home Alone, Christmas Vacation and A Christmas Story they are all shot in 1 37 1 (full screen) so when you see them on tv you are seeing them 1 37 1, when you buy the widescreen dvd version its the theatre matted 1 85 1 version , which is what your suppose to see...So when you see a movie that says its matted widescreen, it means its the theatre version. Not a widescreen movie that was cut into full screen then cut into widescreen...
I love this movie! November 10, 2008 N. Furano 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This movie was made a year after I was born and I dont remember a year when I didn't watch it! I am in love with this movie and am so excited about this collectors edition! I have the book that is advertised it is awesome! A true must for A christmas story fans! Merry Christmas!
Exactly the same as the 2003 release November 7, 2008 E. Schmidt 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Don't get me wrong - I love "A Christmas Story," and I would give the film a 5-star review. The issue here is that the 2008 DVD release is EXACTLY the same as the 2003 version (aside from some slightly different artwork on the slipcover and case). There are no new special features, and the print quality is the same as before. There is absolutely no need for the studio to release this needless double dip DVD. If you don't already own the 2003 version, then this is a must have DVD; if you do, there's no need to buy the new version, unless you go for the Ultimate Collector's Edition, which has some neat extras (which admittedly aren't worth the price if you already own the film on DVD). Check out the Blue-ray version if you're looking for slightly improved picture quality.
What's clearly advertised is what I received November 7, 2008 nork (Oklahoma City) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I haven't popped the disc in to watch the movie yet, but being a huge fan of the movie I've seen it a hundred times, so I'm going to review the products received, not the movie, deleted scenes, etc. br / br /Amazon clearly advertises the Blu-Ray comes with leg lamp lights and the DVD comes with cookie cutters, a cookbook, and apron. For those of you who can't read, Amazon has even included pretty pictures and a video showing this. br / br /I pre-ordered mine back in August, and it was delivered the day of release. The green tin can was in perfect condition, as well were the lights. I was honestly expecting a rip-off strand of lights, something only 3-4' long, but this strand is appx 6'. All lights work and the leg lamps look great, they'll go nicely on my desktop Christmas tree at work this year.
