Amazon.com Product Description Take your favorite music outdoors without losing precious fidelity with the JBL Northridge N24AWII weather-resistant bookshelf speakers. Designed for patios, porches, and other areas with a roof eve or awning, the speakers are ideal for lazy summer parties, wedding receptions, and other outdoor gatherings, as their JLB-exclusive Kapton voice coils and Heatscape motor structures provide rich, crisp audio without withering under intense heat or whipping wind. And should listeners not have a suitable outdoor environment--the speakers aren't waterproof, so uncovered areas aren't ideal--they can move inside and use them as bookshelf stereo speakers or rear speakers in a surround system. The speakers even come with individual brackets for mounting on a wall. p Each speaker includes a 0.75-inch titanium-laminate cone tweeter that reproduces high notes and dialogue at the peak of precision. The tweeter also boasts an oval orientation called Elliptical Oblate Spheroidal (EOS), which results in a wider horizontal dispersion of sound. The idea is simple: turn every seat, no matter where it's located, into the best seat in the house or yard. Meanwhile, the mids and lows radiate from the professionally engineered 4-inch WeatherPlas cone woofers. Additional audio enhancements include FreeFlow flared ports that minimize distortion and thump and a Straight-Line Signal Path (SSP) crossover network that divides the audio signal with minimal processing for a better overall sound. p The N24AWII's technical specifications include a maximum recommended amplifier power of 100 watts, a frequency response of 75 Hz to 20 kHz, and a crossover frequency of 3,000 Hz. Audiophiles will also appreciate the sturdy five-way binding posts, which both provide a variety of secure hookup options and preserve the nuances of the source music. p The speakers hail from JBL's Northridge E Series, which comprises not only floorstanding and bookshelf speakers, but also center channel speakers, subwoofers, and anything else you need to create a superior surround system. The speakers measure 6.25 by 9.5 by 4.75 inches (W x H x D) and are covered by a five-year warranty on parts and labor. p bWhat's in the Box/bbr Two N24AWII speakers, self-adhesive rubber feet, wall brackets, warranty card, user's manual.
Product Description The Northridge N24AWII speaker features high-temperature oversized Kapton voice coil and HeatScape motor structure, which allow these speakers to effortlessly play all types of movies and music. The FreeFlow flared port increases bass response without adding unwanted port noise. JBL's custom-designed drivers allow the use of simple, Straight-Line Signal Path (SSP) crossover networks with high-quality electrical components that minimize processing that could degrade the signal. This 2-way, 4" bookshelf weather-resistant loudspeaker with high-impact molded enclosure reproduces sound with unmatched clarity and power. The WeatherPlas (polymer-coated cellulose fiber) cone woofer features traditional JBL engineering, the same technologies used in JBL's professional equipment that can be found in stadiums, music halls and move theaters around the world. Wall-mount brackets are also included.

Outstanding Quality, Versatile, Trouble Free 4.5 stars September 20, 2008 Modern Blue Argonaut (In my spaceship) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
*I have the black pair of these speakers, so I cannot comment on the appearance or finish on the white set*
br /
br /I bought these speakers several years ago to be used as outdoor wall-mounted speakers. They worked out very well for almost a year outside before I took them down and brought them inside due to noise ordinance issues. The sound outside was very good, and handled medium to medium-loud volumes without any trouble, even with the speaker wire running perhaps 40-50 feet. Mounted outside, these speakers dispersed sound very well and I was often asked where the speakers were because the sound seemed to be all around.
br /
br /I pretty much forgot about these speakers for a few years, and then found myself needing a set of speakers since my son took mine for his room. I dug these out and hooked them up and was surprised at the quality. I wasn't expecting much from a set of indoor/outdoor bookshelf speakers but these exceeded my expectations. I pulled off the grill and looked at the speaker components, and everything was in tip-top shape and very high quality.
br /
br /These speakers handle mid-range exceptionally well, especially voices, drums, and guitars. Also, even with the volume turned up extremely high the sound remains clear and strong, with little detectable distortion.
br /
br /Although these handle the higher notes found in classical music very well, they sound very directional due to the small size.
br /
br /Bass handling was acceptable, but these speakers would benefit from a subwoofer if your music has a lot of bass.
br /
br /Overall, for bookshelf speakers, these are very impressive for a wide range of musical tastes. I would recommend these if you need indoor/outdoor speakers, have limited space, or want to enjoy quality speakers on a budget.
Great sound August 18, 2008 Brett (Barbados) Great sounds, a bit low in the base area but gave them to my father-in-law for use outside. They work great.
Great outdoor speaker June 25, 2008 Jeff Ware This was a staight replacement for an old pair that had lasted over 8 years outside in the Florida climate. The grill went rusty after 7 years but the case was still looking perfect.
br /Sound quality is excellent without being too hard on your wallet. I will be buying another pair of these when the climate gets to this pair in another 8 years.
Great Rear Channels March 31, 2008 Robert Salzman (Chicago, IL) I've been using these as rear channel speakers in my (indoor) den, so they're really not supposed to be cranking out much sound back there, and they do just fine in this role. I can't comment on how well they would do as a main set of speakers. They're a more substantial size than most speakers that are labeled as surround speakers, so they can generate a fuller range of sound. The included wall-mount brackets work great, although I'm not able to point one of them as far to the side as I would like, due to the design of the bracket. They allow maybe 45 degrees of angle to the right or 45 degrees to the left, which is probably fine for most setups. They also allow to tilt up or down a good amount. These speakers are definitely "off-white", appearing to be about halfway between the white crown moulding and the cream-colored walls in my den, which worked out well for my wife!
Initial review July 23, 2007 Alisa Kissel (Clarence, NY USA) Very happy with the quality of the sound. Great sound for a good price. As far as durability, too soon to tell.
