Amazon.com Product Description Attention, all bass lovers needing small speakers: this stately pair of Venturi DV62si bookshelf speakers from BIC America uses a patented and specially tuned rear-panel Venturi port to extend the its low-frequency response to an impressive 43 Hz, nearly a full octave below the capabilities of most bookshelf speakers--the place where kick drums kick and bass guitars growl their deepest. The 2-way speakers would suitably fill out your home theater with surround sound, enliven your dorm or apartment with music, or provide gentle background ambience in your bedroom or business.P Use one pair for stereo or surround applications or pick up 2 pairs (4 speakers) for use as the front and surround elements in a multichannel listening system. The speakers are magnetically shielded for distortion-free placement near your television or computer monitor. Video programs sound more lifelike and enveloping with timbrally matched speakers all around, and plenty of newer music formats--from the DTS surround CD to DVD-Audio and SACD--offer music from your favorite artists mixed expressly for surround-sound listening. (Alternately, you could use these as surround speakers with larger, floorstanding speakers for the front left/right channels.)P Standing just under 15 inches tall, the DV62si speakers each use a custom-designed .75-inch, ferrofluid-cooled dome tweeter for extended high frequencies and a 6-inch poly/graphite-blend woofer is light yet rigid for tight, accurate, and remarkably extended bass.P bWhat's in the Box/bbr Two speakers with grilles, a user's manual, and warranty information.
Product Description Top-notch components yield a stunningly accurate bookshelf-size speaker! Custom designed 3/4" tweeter delivers crystal-clean undistorted upper mid and high frequencies. The 6" poly/graphite woofer is light yet rigid for tight, accurate extended bass. Rear-enclosure patented "Venturi" vent further extends deep low frequency performance. It is ideal for use with all surround and music formats.

BIC Speakers A+++++++++++ November 18, 2009 Jetski (Smith Lake, AL) Consumer Reports had this speaker as a best buy a few years ago. We bought these because of their excellent review and from feedback from Amazon customers. A friends five hundred dollar Klipsch speakers can't touch these. As a matter of fact the worst performer in the under 500 dollar range was the Klipsch in the CR ratings. Powered by an old Sansui 8080, 85 watts power these speakers jam at only a quarter volumn! You will not be disappointed by buying these speakers. For a little over a hundred bucks a pair, nothing else comes close. Don't be fooled by their small size because these will rock the house.
One of the best bang for buck October 1, 2009 BMX 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
These speakers are hands down worth every penny. One of the best bang for buck products I have used.

br /When I set out to purchase these speakers I was looking for something to replace a set of Logitech Z-640 computer speakers. I was not hearing all of my music. I have a good quality Yamaha amp, so these fit the bill very well. I was looking for more accurate sound reproduction and better sound quality. I cannot say these speakers are audiophile grade, however, many audiophiles may be embarrassed picking these speakers in an A/B test over speakers 4 times the cost. These speakers are very efficient.
br /
br /These speakers are initially very bright, however It smoothes out quite a bit, to moderately bright, after break in time. In addition, the harsh edge of brightness was significantly improved with I changed my speaker wires from lamp wire to very high quality ($30 per wire) speaker wire.
br /
br /The 43 hz bass extension claim is too egar in my opinion. However, the bass it is by NO means lacking. The bass extension is prob around 47 - 45Hz. Remember, I am coming from a 5.1 audio system with a dedicated sub. The sound reproduction is FAR more accurate with the BICs than my Logitech Z-640s. The Bass is tight and Extremely well balanced. I have to get used to not having overly zealous bass since I no longer have a dedicated subwoofer.
br /
br /I have compared these speakers to the following doing an A and B tests:
br /
br /Logitech Z-640s - Garbage at best, compared to the Bics and I could never go back to listening to these after having the BICs. Extreamly boomy bass with un balanced sound.
br /
br /Sony SS-MB150H (older model of Sony SS-B1000) - Very very narrow and poor sound stage. No bass extension what so ever compared to the BICs.
br /
br /M-audio AV 40 - With the M-audio's the highs were more clear and less bright/ harsh (however this was before the BICs were broken in, so take it as a grain of salt). The midranges were comparable and more pleasant to listen to on the BICs. When I comes to bass extension the AV40s failed miserably. Too much of the music's lower extension of was just MISSING with the AV40s. This makes the BIC better Hands down with an over all better and more accurate sound reproduction.
br /
br /Bose 301 Series IV - these speakers can go lower than the BICs, HOWEVER, after listening and concentrating on the music the BOSE speakers were reproducing uncontrolled and boomy bass.
br /
br /Soliloquy 5.0 - these are a $900 pair of monitor speakers. The BIC are not better than these, however the $780 price difference is not justified. These speakers have clearer highs and better bass extension and is more controlled over all than the BICs.

Nice AV speaker September 12, 2009 consumer X (usa) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Ok, But NOT like the BIC bookshelf speakers made in the late 70s. Those things would rock a room with solid full bass. These need a subwoofer for that same effect. Fine for smooth jazz (yuk). But clearly a case of the new not being better than the original. fwiw.
Exceptional small speakers. September 5, 2009 D. Jackson (Cookeville, TN) ... but not too small! I must admit that these speakers are a bit of an indulgence. They are *larger* than I thought they would be. These BICs have become the front channels on my computer's sound system. After a complete revamp of my computer's audio system as a reward to myself, I wanted a pair of speakers with excellent sound reproduction that wouldn't 'break the bank'.
br /
br /These BIC speakers sound great, though they are rather bright. I typically prefer a brighter sound, but these may just shave some skin off of your ears before they are broken in (only took about ten hours to take the edge off in my system.) While they are not quite a match for my beloved 'reference' JBL L1 speakers, they are surprisingly good and will not disappoint.
br /
br /I feel like a kid in a candy store having these as my fronts on my computer system; they are so much better than your traditional 'computer speaker' that it's quite a coup to have a 5.1 PC setup with these speakers on the front line.

Quality Speakers for a Quality Price! August 20, 2009 J. Dye (Minnesota) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I decided to do an upgrade to my home theater system and purchased the Pioneer VSX-819H-K receiver. I am on a budget so I upgraded my home theater in a box Onkyo speakers and purchased the BIC America DV62sis for my left and right and the DV-52CLB for my center. I have been very pleased with the sound quality coming out of these speakers. I play a lot of Blu-rays using DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD and these speakers provide a lot of bang for your buck. I can crank up the volume and not worry about distortion, it is great. I will definitely be purchasing some more BIC America speakers to replace my rears.
