| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description If you want to create a rich, expansive soundscape in a smaller room without compromising sonic accuracy, iQ1 delivers the full benefit of KEF's latest design thinking. With the sophisticated Uni-Q coincident driver array in a compact reflex-ported cabinet, you experience stunningly clear vocals, fluid midrange, and an unusually spacious 3D sound image no matter where you sit. Being magnetically shielded like the rest of the iQ line-up, they're as easy to place as they are to drive. Everything from the titanium surface of the Uni-Q cones to the shrouded bi-wire terminals says 'quality' - and for music or movies, that's the word that defines exactly how iQ1 sounds.

Best Hi-Fi speaker for under $400 February 21, 2008 Veerayudh Suppipat (Providence, RI, USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
1. on sound The KEF iQ1 is relatively small, but being KEF, it delivers! I have a couple of reference monitor speakers and monitor headphones from likes of M-audio and Sennheiser to compare. No 2.0 bookshelf loudspeaker has ever come so close to reproduce details as the monitor headphones or the studio monitors. I find myself hearing notes I've never heard of in familiar songs I've listened for months and years that I thought were heard quite thoroughly. This maybe because of the rated 40,000 kHz range which doubles ordinary speakers that maxes out at 20,000kHz (the hearing limit of us homo-sapiens) you are able to have more high notes headroom if you are able to hear them. I'm starting to notice that speakers are a little like wine, every other one behaves a little differently and the KEF has beautiful coloration, 3d space, and detail, serious detail in fact. Although lacking on the bass, which I cannot complain the driver is only 5-1/4 and I'm not using a sub-woofer, the Mids and Highs are wonderful (KEF includes in the package, a little foam unit to fit the flared front port which I believe increases the internal pressure to have more perception of bass - I did it and bass is immediately louder). You should also start to encode your MP3s at double the bit-rates you previously have, or even better, no compression at all and use CDs or Audio DVDs because you will hear literally everything on the tracks due to the accuracy of the iQ1 and if the encoding compression is crap the crapness will come through. Even though my receiver only outputs 35w to each unit, it's still able. This is a very ABLE speaker! 2. On design everyone who has been to my apartment runs first, to the speaker pair. great conversation piece. beats any speaker designs out there for me.
