5 out of 5 stars GREAT INTERCOM SYSTEM   October 15, 2008
Satisfied and happy (Clovis)
I had read lots of reviews about this setup, and was hesitant... but now am so glad that I bought it. It is EASY and comfortable to use. Everybody says the intercom only lasts for 4-5 hours... that is about right... AND it is what is advertised on the box to do.... in STANDBY mode, it will go a lot longer. It is easy to charge and light, no issues with noise at any level, (3/4 helmets).... I would buy it again.

5 out of 5 stars You will not be disappointed ...   October 11, 2008

We were on a 2500 mile road trip around Nevada, Utah, Arizona and Colorado and needed bike to bike comms. I ordered two of these BlueAnt intercoms and they arrived the next day whilst on our road trip! (Thanks Amazon).

I don't have a lot of patience when it comes to setting up gadgets. I usually leave it to my techy boyfriend to sort out things like this, but he was in the shower! I had them fitted to our helmets and scanned the user manual and we hit the road in 30 mins. They work very well and have plenty volume to be used when wearing ear plugs as well (Road King with no screen and riding at 85mph).

I think the range on these things is about a mile, with perfect transmission, the only exception is it's got to be line of sight. If you go around a bend in cliffs the signal is broken until you can both see each other again but that wasn't a problem really.

The battery lasts about 5 hours if you are nattering all the time but when you press the button once, (easy with gloves on) to put it in standby when you're not chatting, the battery lasts about 700 hours apparently! Don't worry if you're on standby and your mate wants to talk, it turns yours on automatically.

They charge-up really quick too, when we forgot to do this and put them on for charge in the morning they were ready by the time we'd showered and packed the bikes.

They made our trip all the better for having them and I think they are very good value. I'd recommend them to my biker friends for sure. (Also, I thought that once you had linked two comms units together so that they were paired on the road that you had to go through the pairing procedure again after having turned them off completely, but I found that not to be the case, they are still paired even if they've been off for days).

Safe riding!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic bike to bike communicators   September 17, 2008

My husband and I bought these for touring. We have been waiting to try a bike to bike communicator because of mixed reviews in the past. We bought the Interphones and our expectations were greatly surpassed. The clarity is amazing and the range is excellent. We lost connection once because of distance and one button push and you are reconnected. The one-time-only pairing and learning to reconnect takes a little patience to learn but once you do it is very easy. The sound is remarkably clear and the external noise cancelling is excellent. Neither one of us could hear each other's engine noise. Being duplex you can dialog, you don't have to do the one person at a time "over" speech. It's very cool. Get them, you'll like them!

3 out of 5 stars battery charging   September 9, 2008

I like the BlueAnt InterPhone at speeds below 60 MPH and for short rides. in my opinion there is a major flaw in the design, short battery life before recharging is required and there is no way to charge the battery on the run.
another thing I would like to see is an ear bud and a DC charger option.

I just bought the interphone. So far I'm very happy with it, all functions work just as the product info claims as well as all of the good reviews that I read. I read as many reviews as I could, there are a few negative reviews about the product, but all of the problems that others have had, I have not. I paired my phone on the first try. Now as soon as I turn on the Interphone my phone picks it up right off and does not lose the connection. My phone has voice recognition (not tag, which you have to program with your own voice), all this works very well. Sound quality is good up to about 60 miles/hr after that the road/wind noise makes it difficult for me to hear (you know how noisy your own helmet is, you can gauge how well you will hear at various speeds), whoever I'm talking to can hear me fine. A head wind is worse or more traffic. My phone also has GPS and it works well with this. The automatic volume adj seems to work very well also. All the buttons are easy to use and I always have gloves on.
The reason I chose the Interphone over the Scala model is because I have a closed face helmet and I did not want the boom connected to the main frame of the device and have to run up on the underside of the lining. I like the interphone design so there is only 1 wire that comes on the outside off the helmet. I figured that the boom would always get hooked on my face when putting the helmet on or taking it off. Also the lining inside my helmet is removable, installation was a snap. I really could not imagine how it could have been easier to set the whole thing up. I spent a little time adjusting the exact location of the ear piece and the boom. The cost of this is a third that of a chatter box (2 way radio system w/Bluetooth), not to mention a third of the size. Even though it would be great to communicate with multiple riders on the same system, I figure that I would just call them on my phone, there are no distance restrictions then! It does not support streaming music, that would be a great feature.
