Amazon.com Product Description
The ultraslim Apex AD-1225 does double duty as a movie source and a music player, providing high-end video outputs as well as decoding for the popular MP3 and Windows Media Audio music formats. If you burn pictures from a digital camera to CD-Rs and CD-RWs, you can even use the player for watching slideshows right on a TV. Apex's active full screen function (AFF) helps resize widescreen (16:9 aspect ratio) video images to fill 4:3 aspect-ratio sets.

Top-of-the-line component-video outputs help minimize line scan and digital artifacts on compatible advanced televisions, while composite- and S-video outputs bring compatibility with nearly any television. Onboard Active Full-Screen function magnifies widescreen images to utilize the full LCD, eliminating the black bars that normally accompany widescreen programs.

In the audio realm, a sets of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's digital-audio outputs (one each optical and coaxial) for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver. Other features include a video fluorescent display, 2x and 4x picture zoom, frame-by-frame advance, and an LED indicator for power status.

4 out of 5 stars 3-years and it still works   August 19, 2006
Ramesh Soni (Indiana, PA USA)
I replaced my expensive Panasonic (upon its death) by this inexpensive DVD player. We (kids mainly) watch at least 5-7 dvds per week. It has lasted longer than my previous Panasonic unit and it is less finicky when it comes to playing dvds that have scratches, etc.

I have been happy with the unit. It does not play DVD+R created by computer though.
