Amazon.com Product Description The MRV700R from Magnavox combines a full-featured DVD player with the quality and convenience of both DVD+R/+RW and VHS (NTSC, PAL, SECAM) recording and playback. Great for small-scale entertainment systems and back-room or bedroom service, the MRV700R lets you archive your home movies and edit favorite scenes to share with loved ones: use recordable DVD+R and rerecordable DVD+RW media for compiling home-video highlights or for storing TV programs, then mail them to loved ones. You can also time-shift your TV viewing, using the unit's programmable timer to schedule programs to record on either VHS tape or DVD, depending on your priorities. The MRV700R stores up to 6 hours of audio and video on a single-sided recordable DVD at varying quality levels, from sub-VHS quality to VHS/S-VHS quality, DVD quality, and full DV quality. Whether your living room is currently home to an HDTV or you're merely thinking of "someday," the MRV700R stands ready to deliver the full potential of your DVDs during playback. Progressive scanning, referred to as 480p for the number of horizontal lines that compose the video image, creates a picture using twice the scan lines of a conventional DVD picture, giving you higher resolution and sharper images while eliminating nearly all motion artifacts. The MRV700R also performs 3:2 pulldown detection. DVD mastering introduces a common distortion when adjusting 24-frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video; reverse 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this distortion, removing the redundant information to display a film-frame-accurate picture. The unit's front panel sports a set of inputs for your temporary or spontaneous A/V connections. A set of left/right analog-audio outputs channel audio to Dolby Pro Logic receivers and stereo televisions. Both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround-sound signals can be routed through the player's coaxial digital-audio output for direct connection to a full-featured audio/video receiver.
Product Description This Magnavox MRV700VR DVD and Video Cassette Recorder records both DVD+RW/DVD+R and videotapes, but also plays prerecorded videotapes, DVDs and other Disc types. You can record TV programs, edit camcorder recordings, and quickly access your DVD recordings in the Index Picture Screen. You'll soon appreciate the digital picture and sound quality of DVD, DVD+RW, and DVD+R, which will exceed the quality you have had with videotapes.

This Machine Works For Me :D July 8, 2006 Illumina (in orbit) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Hi! I am reading these reviews and laughing at how frustrated everyone is. READ the manual, yes. PUSH a button, yes. This deck has been a god-sent for me as I am transferring all of my undergraduate work to digital media. The extra fun features are neat if you're a couch potato. Initial setup was nothing at all, Pro Scan automatically scanned every catv channel and pretty much did everything on its own. If you KNOW what you WANT, the challenges of learning new electronics give great benefits. :-) xx~
