Awesome unit (Highly Recommended) July 24, 2008 ShowtimeLakers + records to HDD instantly, w/push of a button (no lag from sleep mode) br /+ dubbing in multi-directions: DVD to HDD, VHS to HDD, etc. Versatile. br /+ it allows you to burn archive your own DVDs! br /+ works very well with Directv br /+ can edit out commercials (improved from prev. models, much less lag) br /+ VHS feature is superb, as it removes most tracking and jitter issues br /+ simultaneous disc burning and recording of live TV br /+ high-speed dubbing flex recording br /+ XP recording digital audio br /+ compatible with virtually all formats, including +/- DL and DVD-RAM br /+ can set and remove chapters br /+ SD slot for digital photos br /+ improved remote control responsiveness (from previous models) br /+ component video and HDMI options; multiple input/output jacks br /+ uses Samsung Spinpoint HD (quiet, reliable, stays cool, responsive) br /+ Made in Japan br / br /- no HD tuner (only analog) br /- no timer record feature for VHS br /- cannot record in LP quality for VHS, only SP or EP (strange) br /- customized chapters are kept only for discs burned in high-speed mode br /- cannot re-combine programs once they've been divided br /- does not read photos burned onto DVDs, only CDs. br /- does not playback DIVX burned onto CDs, only DVDs. br /- disc menu choices could have been better (when finalizing discs) br /- some missing channels in TV Guide (i.e. ESPN2) br /- dislike placement of TV Guide button on the remote control br /- not multi-regional, neither VHS nor DVD (lol, getting picky) br / br /Despite some minor flaws, overall this is an extremely strong DVD recorder. It is fantastic for converting your VHS library into DVD. I've had no problems in nearly two years. It's too bad Panasonic others have decided to pull the plug on hard drive DVD recorders in the North American market. This is a big mistake, do you hear me? Please bring the high-definition blu-ray machines over here soon (w/o shortcuts, must be Made in Japan please). br / br /I am also quite impressed on how much these go for, even USED (especially since I bought mine well under the MSRP). br / br /Easily 5-stars for the DMR-EH75V.
Works Great and I'm not a techie.... October 8, 2007 Lawrence Schindler (A Conn. Yankee in King Arthurs Court.) I have had this unit a few months and got it as a present. br / br /The hook-up was easy as easy could be. I have used the VHS, the hard disk record and both played and recorded to the DVD drive. Everything works as described. br / br /I have cable TV (COX) and the TV guide works perfectly. I schedule and record movies and TV programs. I am very happy as the unit works as described. br / br /The manual is confusing to say the least but I am not a techie so that is expected. What I did find is that the use of the unit is intuitive so I have figured out most of what I need to do. Just watching the video here on Amazon will allow me to transfer my son's college graduation to DVD. br / br /I would highly recommend this unit. br / br /
Very Capable July 3, 2007 D. Rosson (Athens, AL USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Good product, very capable if you can figure out the procedure. The instruction manual is hard to understand. Not on layman's terms or explanations.
