5 out of 5 stars LCD TV LAMP   November 1, 2009

Great product, for the price of the OEM it is better installing the new lamp yourself instead of buying a complete new lamp with housing.

3 out of 5 stars Easy to change lamp, but far too much excess material   October 20, 2009
Dave Millman (San Jose, CA USA)
This is a fairly standard projector bulb, contained within a massive cage. This adds a lot of cost and waste. I am comfortable handling projector bulbs, so next time my TV needs a new bulb, I will find the naked bulb somewhere and insert it into a reused cage. br / br /This lamp does perform well, and is fairly easy to change when using this version with the big cage. I'm signing up for extra work, but I'm happy to do that to save some bucks and some waste.

5 out of 5 stars Easy as pie   October 18, 2009
William E. Gibson (Gurnee, IL)
I made the dreadful mistake of turning my television on and off too quickly and blew the lamp. I noticed the normally green light on front was now red. I thought I'd do a power reset and all would be good. No such luck. Removing the lamp was real easy. Once I did, a lamp shattered to bits was revealed. Now this happens on the day MLB playoffs started, so you can imagine my displeasure. Anyway, so I researched, and found I was able to get the lamp in a rebuilt housing assembly for $128 including shipping here on good ole Amazon. I ordered and received the lamp and assembly within 2 days of of ordering with standard shipping, not bad. Lamp assembly was well packaged. Since it sat on my porch for the majority of the day in high 30 degree temps, when I installed it, I did not apply power to the television for a few hours to let the bulb come to the same temperature as the television. Once I applied power, it worked. No problems at all. Moral of my story, be careful not to create my own power surge, it will damage the bulb.

3 out of 5 stars Sony 60" TV Projector Lamp   September 12, 2009
Glen H. Hill (TEXAS)
Price is high...bulb only (not good)...it should be "what you see is what you get"...it you get fingerprints on the halogen bulb it may well explode when the current hits it...thus the need for the exterior casing that just plugs in to the tv set...price is high to me but less than half of what the Sears charge was.

5 out of 5 stars OEM - Sony XL-5200 Lamp Housing   July 24, 2009

This is the actual Sony OEM XL-5200 Projector Lamp; in its housing assembly. You can save some $ by purchasing a replica part or just the bulb itself, then install the bulb in existing housing. (I didnt want to bother) Simpler install when you get this full assembly. My first lamp lasted three years for my avid viewing and gaming. I expect the same life span from this OEM part. Less expensive replica part/light probably produce the same picture quality, but may have shorter life.
