4 out of 5 stars Wretched Sound But You Can Work Around It   August 16, 2008
Arthur Kimes (Los Angeles, CA USA)
This discount HDTV has the worst sound I've even heard in a TV set but you can easily fix that problem with a 2.1 ( powered subwoofer plus 2 powered speakers) computer speaker system. Plug that into the headphone output. I picked a 2.1 system on Amazon for under $25 and now I'm quite happy with the sound.

So far as the picture quality goes, it's ok for a discount HDTV. Over the Air HDTV signals, DVDs and my PS2 (when using the S-Video input!) look excellent. It does take more fiddling with the brightness and color controls than I'd like.

There's a quirk that might be just be a defect in my set. Sometimes, it loses the ability to receive HDTV signals. Powering off and on fixes that. It doesn't happen very often, maybe once a week.

I gave it four stars becuase of the value at the price I paid. A local supermarket was selling this for $200. At the current Amazon price of around $300 I'd only rate it 3 stars.
