Wonderful Gift! November 7, 2009 Glass Fan (Gainesville, Florida) This is fantastic! I think this is a great way for people, who may not be familiar with Philip Glass, to hear his music. It's also a wonderful gift from Amazon to fans of Glass. Thank you!
Free!!! October 29, 2009 P. PARSON (Harrisburg, PA USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I'll put it right out here. I like Philip Glass - not everything he's written, but a lot. I echo another reviewer here, I don't like every piece on this download, but I like most of it. Yes, Glass is a minimalist and he doesn't appeal to everyone, but his body of work is tremendous and this download would be a good introduction and most people will find something they like. It will give you enough of a taste that you might want to explore his body of work even more. In addition to his classical works he has done soundtracks like "The Truman Show" and collaborated with David Bowie to write the "Low Symphony" And it is free! Thank you Orange Mountain. I own many Glass cd's and I probably will purchase more in the future. It is nice to have something free.
Fantastic deal October 29, 2009 Trevor L. Mullis (Georgia) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I didn't like everything on here, but it's definitely well made and very good. For free, it'd be insane not to get this.
Uncanny. Unquestionable genius. October 28, 2009 Gabriel E. Gopen (Washington, DC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is both an amazing collection of music and surprisingly accessible. I appreciate modern classical music, but I am no aficionado. After listening to this compilation, I felt like Glass has a lot to offer and you don't have to study the minimalists to "get it." What an amazing composer.
Best of Prolific Glass October 28, 2009 Bobak (Los Angeles, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Glass's music has always been rich in sound and sparse in melody, and this sample is no exception. There's still plenty of incredible music and collaborations Glass has done beyond this sampler, but this is as good a place as any to start.
