5 out of 5 stars Iriver T10   October 4, 2008
B.A.
I was looking for the Iriver T10 quite some time. It is not made anymore today I think. Then I looked at amazone.com and there it was on the screen. I made the order at once. I have 3 mp3-players but this one is the best. The sound is excellent. Very nice design. Empty? Just replace the AA battery. Thanks very much amazone.com. br /best regards br /B.A.

5 out of 5 stars iRiver T10 2GB   July 26, 2008

I bought my 2GB on an Army post two years ago in Germany, I have not seen the 2GB version available on Amazon so I will rate it under the 1GB. br / br /I have read great reviews for the T10 512MB so I thought I would go buy one, the 2GB was the only version available so I picked it up for $99 on sale. I love the fact that it is "plug play" makes connecting and using right away a breeze, as soon as I plugged the USB cable in the T10 loaded immediately. Within minutes of getting a rechargeable AA put in and the T10 connected to my computer I was already loading music on it. The best part is that there is no limit to what I could put on it. I also store photos and Microsoft office items on here as well but they can't be viewed on the screen (I have no use for video on an mp3 player, so I do not consider that when rating an mp3 player). I have used this player extensively over the last two to three years and have yet to have a problem. The battery life is great, lasts approx. 40 hours (Never timed it but the battery needs to be changed after three to four weeks of daily use) before I need to recharge and with this being 2GB I have more than enough music to listen to when running or working out. I had to buy the arm band separately, mine came with the necklace which was useless. The standard ear buds are not that great either but I have numerous other head phones on hand so that did not matter. br / br /One of the things that make the T10 great is the availability of an FM tuner. If you don't want to listen to your loaded music then you can tune a local radio station. With me being in Germany I was able to listen to stations there as well with no problems, they tuned right in and as clear as they did in the States. The player also has a recorder but I never really found a use for it but I will call it a plus. The "sport clip" that is mounted on what could be considered the front is large and sturdy, but not so large that is becomes bulky and in the way. Let's just say that if you desired to clip it to a belt loop on jeans it is wide enough to accommodate the loop. br / br /The only thing that I would consider a minus is the small screen. When scrolling through your play lists only four or five songs are displayed at a time. I don't think this is a big deal but some may find it to be a deal breaker, especially those who may be far sided. The actual program itself is a very user friendly and very simple to navigate. You have to deliberately push the select button to enter a certain file or to start a song. br / br /Overall this has been the most reliable and durable mp3 player I have ever owned (my previous players were also iRiver, a 20 and 30GB and one Creative yes it was a Zen. For the record, I can't stand Apple products because they are over rated crap, so the iPod will never have a chance with me.)

3 out of 5 stars Fantastic--while it lasted   July 16, 2008

The iRiver T10 1 GB flash player was my first adventure into the world of MP3 players. I was unimpressed with the hype (and price) of the iPod line, and spent a good month researching a good, introductory MP3 player, and the iRiver T10 fit the requirements. The sound was surprisingly clear and detailed, even with the included headphones, and all was well. I mostly used my MP3 player at work, and finally while doing light cardio exercise (in other words, cycling or stair stepper, nothing that would damage it). It began freezing and otherwise shutting down while in use, so I deleted everything from the drive and attempted to update the firmware and format the drive. Somewhere in all that, after repeating it for the 6th time spread out over a few months as recommended by iRiver and other helpful product owners, my MP3 player froze while updating itself and died completely. br / br /I had a techie friend look at it who declared the drive to be irreparable and a piece of junk. In all, I got about a year of use out of it before it bit the dust, despite caring for it and not leaving it in extreme temperatures. I wish the quality had been more realistic and reflected what I paid, but I enjoyed the product so much while it did work, I purchased another MP3 player from their company that was not a flash drive.
