Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Microlink brings together some of the most popular features of Eton's Voicelink, in a more compact design. This ultra-portable device is ideal to have on hand when you're roughing it. It also makes a great addition to any emergency-preparedness kit. No plugs or wires are required. Instead, turn the hand crank to power the Microlink, or capture the sun's energy and run it on solar power. You'll always know what's going on, thanks to the AM, FM, and weather bands. You can also tune in to the FCC and EAS public alert systems. Add the flashlight and cell phone charger, and you've got one versatile little device. You'll be prepared for any emergency, and there's an added benefit - each radio includes American Red Cross disaster preparedness tips.

5 out of 5 stars Best quality, best value, best reliability out there!   November 26, 2008
S. Hall (Texas)
This is by far the best crank emergency radio, period. I purchased 2 or 3 before getting to this one, and they all required around 3 min of cranking for some ridiculous amount of battery time. Plus, the others that I have been through would actually die if I didn't use it right after I cranked it. The last time I wound up this radio was about two weeks ago, and it still has charge, even after sitting on the shelf. br / br /The radio is very high quality as well! It can receive radio signal almost as clearly as my car, and that is saying something! The tiny speaker is surprisingly high quality, as well as, loud. The light on the front is one of the better ones that I have seen, maybe the best. It's simple 3 LED system converges the light into one circle, and is extremely bright, so all in all the light is great too. br / br /If all that doesn't get you excited, then also know that the solar panel is also freaking awesome. The solar panel in itself almost makes the whole radio worth it. Whether I'm sitting outside, or I just open a window and sit it on the window sill, the radio will run and charge off of the sun. Awesome! br / br /This is a wonderful product. It is compact, reliable, high quality, and a must have for any emergency kit. Please believe me when I say that I've tried some of the best emergency radios out there, and this particular one, built by Eton, is one of the most inexpensive, and yet still greatest deal available. br / br /I highly recommend this product!

3 out of 5 stars So far, so good.   November 23, 2008

We got the radio in a couple days - typical excellent service by Amazon. Set it out in the sun for an afternoon and it was ready to go. Camping at Lake Cachuma we tried it out. "High wind advisory . . ." on the weather channel. Oh yeah - the breeze was a-blowin'. The FM radio worked great, receiving several groovey stations. The LED flashlight was bright enough to find the path to the bathroom. I sent the form in for the cell phone adapter and got it quickly. Looking forward to cranking it . . . will it really charge up the Blackberry???? stay tuned.......

5 out of 5 stars Amazing little radio   November 20, 2008

Works as advertised and far better than I expected for the price. I plan on picking a couple up as gifts for this Christmas, they're that good. br / br /The radio even sounds nice from that tiny little speaker. Tuning is easy and I have no problems pulling in every channel that I expected. br / br /The light on it is very nice as well. br / br /My only complaint, and it's barely a complaint at that, is that a rubber or flexible whip-type antenna would probably be more durable. As always, there's a fear of "snapping" it while retracting it.

5 out of 5 stars Everyone Should Have One   November 6, 2008

This radio works well. It has a crank to generate charging power for the radio, LED light and mini-usb output. Who cares if it doesn't completely charge your cell phone with four cranks. You'll be using this in emergency situations and glad you have it. If you have a mini-usb charger phone, like most are today, you'll need to buy a mini-usb to mini-usb cable. br / br /It also has a small solar charger on top which should help keep it charged during the day. br / br /Get one. It could come in very handy.

For such a small radio, it does sound good.......but within the range of personal listening. Works time after time on the solar charge, I'm not into the Model T thing, but I guess that works too. Flashlight is ample. br /As I have said in other reviews, etons are the best radio values in every price point. br /All I have except the Grundig are rechargable and hold their stations well, and are durable. And if you want to use batteries, they last a long time too, This one doesn't even take them, unless I'm missing something. br /One last thing: This usually fits in your camera bag along with the other paraphenalia you may have there.
