Produced by Grammy winning Rob Cavallo (Green Day, Kid Rock), David Cook is a quality album full with radio hits. Cook co-wrote 9 songs from his debut, along with songwriters like Chris Cornell, Brian Howes Cathy Dennis. The 1st single "Light On" was co-written by one of rock music's most influential innovators, Chris Cornell, lead singer and songwriter for Soundgarden and Audioslave, and acclaimed producer / songwriter Brian Howes, who has worked with superstar rock bands such as Hinder and Puddle of Mudd.

Very disappointed in this album. While I enjoyed David's variety of music and delivery on AI, the tracks on this album quickly become redundant---they sound too much alike. In addition, he often seems to be screaming the lyrics instead of singing them. I had hoped for more. br / br / br /Jack

I love all his songs, his special mentions: Come Back To Me, Declaration, Heroes, Permanent, Avalanche, A Daily AntheM, Kiss On The Neck (the very cute hidden track), Bar-ba-sol... actually they are all pretty great. I can just imagine him in his concert and everyone will be rocking with him during his "rock" set, and be in tears during "Permanent", I was in tears when I first heard it!. Perfect songs for a good concert. br / br /As one of David Roland Cook's biggest fans, his first major album do not disappoint me at all.

This CD is so thought and emotion provoking! David Cook reaches in and touches your soul. Is DC perfect? No, so let's not expect perfection. No one is perfect. It is obvious that David Cook puts his heart and soul into every song he sings. He doesn't pretend to be anyone else, he just wants to be himself. His genuineness and honesty is what makes him unique. His amazing talent for expressing himself in his lyrics and in his outstanding voice that reaches the heavens, is what draws you into his music. It's unfortunate that some did not enjoy the CD. They are truly missing out on something great. There is the saying, "Live in each moment" or "Take one moment at a time". With David Cook's CD, "Live in each song", and "Take one song at a time". Those who spoke negatively about this CD is because they did not follow that. David Cook puts out music that is diverse and provactive in the sense that you need to immerse yourself into each song and let it stand alone, instead of forming an opinion of the CD as a whole. There is much to gain from his music if you do this, or you will miss DC's true intentions. br / br /When David Cook won AI, I screamed which isn't something I routinely do. I thoroughly enjoyed his music on AI and I was so amazed at how he could take any song and make it his own. Incredibly inventive! David Cook's winning song, "This Is My Life", was a great song because I was at a crossroads in my own life and it moved me to believe how it was time for me to stop hiding in the crowd and embrace my life out loud. I think DC's song, "Permanent" is so incredibly beautiful. With the wonderful piano and strings, it gives David a chance to show the depth of his talent and ability to use his beautiful voice range that fits each song. This song brought tears for me because even after 17 years, the pain of losing my dad to cancer was still very much in my heart. Also, 3 years ago, my daughter and son-in-law lost their precious 26-day-old son during open heart surgery. He was such a sweet little boy who fought his own battle with so much bravery. He was so young, but you could feel his great strength. A year later, they were gifted with expecting identical twin girls. One of my twin granddaughters went on to be stillborn and our little survivng miracle was born 3 months early, weighing just 2 lbs. and 14 inches long. Now she is 2 1/2 years old and is definitely her own person as DC is. So "Permanent" touches me deeply. Mostly, it reminds me of my little grandson who I called my little warrior, Braveheart, who lost his valiant battle. It is difficult to pick a favorite song on this CD because each one has its own special uniqueness about it. I definitely reccommend purchasing "David Cook" and discover for yourself the amazing depth and talent of this young man who is only 25 years old! I really look forward to future CDs!!
An Intelligent and Exotic debut for David Cook November 20, 2008

I have been so pumped since the day that David Cook told us fans that the album would make the hair on our necks raise up. I can easily say that I was blown away when I heard this release. The songs are intelligently written, and the sound is clearly related to David Cook. Rob Cavallo (his producer) did a great job with creating the David Cook signature sound. br / br /Now, a lot of people may not like this type of rock music. David told us on American Idol at his audition that he "brings something different to the table". There is no doubt in my mind that this rock record is brilliantly different than your average mainstream sound (ie Daughtry, The Calling, Hoobastank, etc). This debut is just one chapter out of the legacy of David Roland Cook. br / br /Declaration- a very mainstream stand out track. It shows how David can easily belt out those notes with ease, and make them sound silky smooth. br / br /Heroes- another mainstream track, which has a terrific chorus. I tip my hat to David on this one for hitting those hard to reach notes for a male vocalist. br / br /Light on- This track is obviously going to be an arena rock hit. The sound is quite different from the rest of the album. We see that "david cook crunch" face in the video. br / br /Come Back to Me- A very interesting acoustic type ballad. Really takes a toll on one's mind. It's clearly suits David Cook well. br / br /Life on The Moon- Another suited David Cook sound and song. br / br /I Did It for You- a mainstream song that should be used in a movie. br / br /Basically ladies and gentlemen, this is a great, refreshing debut from David Cook. I have listened to the album multiple times before giving my review. If I could have anyone's vocal ability, it would be David Cook's. His ability is so flexible, but yet so raw and untouchable, and rather difficult to remake. br / br /

Wow is all I can say! I love David Cook so much and was ecstatic when he won American Idol. This cd does not disappoint!! I loved every second of it. Man his voice just makes me melt =D. Hes so cute too 3 Yes I am a fangirl and Im proud of it :D
