They allow you to remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water, glass... etc. They also enable colors to become more saturated and appear clearer, with better contrast. This effect is often used to increase the contrast and saturation in blue skies and white clouds. Hoya's polarizing filters do not affect the overall color balance of a shot. :: Hoya UltraViolet (UV) Filter :: Hoya UV filters should be constantly fitted to a lens to give improved clarity and color balance as well as offering protection to your lens. A UV filter absorbs the ultraviolet rays which often makes outdoor photographs hazy and indistinct, and an excellent multi-purpose fine-weather filter for color as well as black and white films. It has everything you need. Not of the higher qality but good for the price. I used it for my new 40D and didn't find anything wrong.

The price is excellent for the quality of product. I was searching Hoya filters and the were quite expensive, but buying this kit the price was less that buy them separately. So, it is worth to buy the Kit. br /I recommend this kit for beginner in digital photography.
