The floating glass panel design is thin (a mere 4.02 inches thick) and elegant, and it brings with it Sony's WEGA engine, which is engineered to provide striking high-resolution 1,024 x 768 pictures. The WEGA engine employs Direct Digital Circuitry, which ensures rich, natural-looking images from any source, along with Digital Reality Creation technology, which doubles the pixels on each scan line (vertical and horizontal) to create a picture with four times the density. The TV also offers two built-in NTSC tuners and a single built-in ATSC tuner, which coordinates with the picture-in-picture function to let viewers watch two programs from different sources either side by side or in an inset window. Movie aficionados will appreciate the CineMotion technology, which automatically converts film content via the 3:2 pulldown process for smoother-looking DVD images, along with the 16:9 enhanced aspect ratio, which maximizes the picture resolution for widescreen sources, such as select DVDs.
