My wife is plauged with persistant insomnia. Some years ago she discovered that listening to bland music or network news in the early hours would eventually get into Morphia's arms. The original Walkman types either ate tapes or batteries. The mp3 player we tried was fine with recorded media but had very little FM range - though it was still useful for pre-recorded stuff. Tried this product because reviews claimed it had solid audio performance, good battery life, and good range for FM reception, and better than Sony's competing product, the antennae was in the earphone wires rather than a separate wire. br / br / We are not dissapointed at all. Unit is easy to control in a dark bedroom, has very strong reception, is kind to batteries, and when necessary, they are easily replaced. It picks up local TV broadcasts - which are fine for putting a tired lady to sleep - though we assume similar products will do this as well. But the keys are its reliability and ease of use

Only problem I had with this radio is the ear pieces do not stay in my ear when walking. Otherwise the AM station I needed comes in fine but you have to localize it for best reception which can be a pain if you are lying down.

This radio has exceptional reception and sound quality. While it is small and light enough to fit in a pocket, it does not have a belt clip. The only thing is that is the volume could be louder.

I bought this nifty little pocket radio through Amazon a month ago and am very pleased with it. Earlier I had a Sangean DT-110, also a pocket model without a speaker, until the loose battery compartment cover fell off somewhere and was lost. The 180 is light and small--two of them would fit easily in a shirt pocket--but is considerably more sensitive for both FM and AM stations. br / br /I worried that battery life would be short, since it takes only one AAA cell, but it is still going strong after at least 12 hours of use--more time than the DT-110 offered with two AA's. br / br /The 180 has several nice design features. The five favorite-station buttons are conveniently located on top and are easily set. Actually, you can have 20 favorites: 5 buttons x 4 bands (AM, FM1, FM2, TV). Volume control is via up/down buttons, which I prefer to a dial, and all settings including volume can be frozen by turning on the lock switch. The display includes a simple but useful battery gauge. The earphones are comfortable and offer pretty good fidelity even on our classical music station. The DBB bass-boost is a bit primitive but works. br / br /Overall, serves me well on a bike or a bus, and I'm glad I bought it.
