This laptop is a real standout for the price. Fast. clean. Minimal bloatware that was easy to remove. I'd easily recommend this as a basic laptop for everyday use. The numeric keypad is a nice extra. About my only concern is that the shell on the lid feels a bit thin.

At first, I really liked this Acer. Great display, Win 7 runs well, everything loads quickly, startup is fast. The keyboard felt a little flimsy, but I figured it was me. Yet, instead of my typing improving as I got used to it (I'm a pretty good typist) more and more errors appeared: many missed letters, r letters coming in double, just like another user reported. In less than three weeks of use, the key for Q became stuck, and i had to flip up the flimsy little cover to get at the actual mechanism; eventually that hinged cover came off. I spent a lot of time setting this macchine up, and to think that I will have to get rid of anything personal, like quickbooks and tax info so that I can get it fixed -- well, let's just say I'm NOT happy!! Never mind lost productivity because I'll have to go back to my old, slow-as-molasses XP laptop. I gave it three stars because everything else is great.

I got this last week and am generally pleased. The display is great--large and very sharp. Everything works very quickly, and there weren't too many junky programs preloaded.

br /HOWEVER, they keyboard is really terrible. It fails to recognize about 1 in 10 letters I type. Then, sometimes, it doubles letters. It is very, very frustrating to type on this thing. I would not recommend it if you have lots of typing to do!

I must have owned at least 50 computers (about 8 laptops) by now and this is an example of how they just keep getting better.

br /They display is improved and really gives color and sharpness to your drab old photos. The large square keyboard keys are a joy to type on. Mousepad takes some getting used to since you have to use the left side since the right is reserved for (new W 7) pinching etc. But there is a key to disable the pad (and then use a USB mouse)

br /The unit stays remarkably cool and the battery lasts 3.5-4.5 hrs (I think)

br /Seems to pick up more wireless signals and stronger

br /Incidently the notebook has 4 usb inputs! - 2 on each side!

br /It doesn't have built in bluetooth but evidently another model must because it has a (disbled) bluetooth on off key

br /It comes in a small box with just the battery and charger and very little literature (most is loaded on the hard disk and available online. good - less clutter

br /I made the single repair disk but haven't done the big 5 disk image. I also deleted MacAfee

br /Windows 7 seems amazingly solid and simple. By far microsoft's best effort. It eliminates a lot of clicks. Features a dedicated show desktop hover click in lower right. Simplifications abound. After a while you seem to forget how easy everything is to do without losing the way you have done thing for a long time. You can think more about what you are doing and not on how to get the computer there

br /So far only one problem with Win 7 (perhaps my recent update fixed it) is that the desktop has twice lost icons I have placed there
