Product Description
Because the center channel speaker reproduces more than 60 percent of a movie soundtrack, Klipsch spared no expense when developing the Reference Series RC-62. With its ideal combination of technology, performance and design, this speaker delivers a seamless, engaging soundstage that puts listeners inside the action. Exclusive Tractrix Horns have always been the key component of this critically acclaimed series. In the RC-62, this technology has been refined to include improved throat geometry for a more genuine, lifelike sound. Behind the horn lies a 1-inch titanium tweeter with a powerful neodymium magnet motor structure to provide a unique combination of precision, clarity and effortless dynamics. The RC-62 employs dual 6.5-inch woofers for a solid bass foundation. These Cerametallic woofers with inverted copper dust caps exhibit a very high stiffness-to-mass ratio and superb damping characteristics. p The RC-62's rigid cabinet offers improved internal cross-bracing to minimize panel vibrations that can color sound. Twin front-firing ports eliminate turbulence noise, while increased baffle ribbing around the horn mouth dramatically improves acoustics across the sonic range. For signal purity and perfect driver integration, the crossover on the RC-62 features the finest components and Klipsch custom internal wiring. HIGH FREQ CROSSOVER - 1150Hz, 1650Hz LOW FREQUENCY DRIVERS - Dual 6.5 (13.3cm) Cerametallic cone woofers ENCLOSURE TYPE - Bass-reflex via dual front-firing ports Unit Dimensions HWD - 8 x 23.5 x 12.5 / Unit Weight - 32lbs Black Ash woodgrain vinyl finish

5 out of 5 stars Big speaker, big sound   November 4, 2008

I purchased this center to replace my Onkyo system. I purchased this RC-62 because it is matched bettter with my RF-82 towers. The sound is awesome - considerably fuller and more vibrant than the Onkyos. Klipsch is known, among other things, for their "horn" tweeters, which produce bright, in-your-face, highs. This works exceptionally well for home theater usage (so you can hear what people are saying in movies and on TV.) That said, I use mine mostly for music, which I think, still works well. br / br /This all said, if I had the chance to do it again, I might opt for the RC-52 instead, and get smaller fronts.. Save money and space. You still need a sub-woofer with either setup and given that most receivers want you to put your crossover at 80hz, the larger woofer size is less important than it would be without a sub.
