Product Description The SPL-R Series - Small, Precise...Loud. Simply Perfect. The industry's best selling small subwoofers just got better with the perfect combination of beauty, brains and brawn. We took the original SPL Series II's 1000-watt RMS amps, long throw drivers, and compact, beautiful cabinets and added a 6-band automatic digital room equalizer with included mic, a remote control and full DSP control. The result is a subwoofer that adapts to any room's décor and acoustic anomalies with performance that leaves anything else in its class in the dust. Features 6 band Auto-EQ with mic included Remote Controlled One Button PRESETS - Action Adventure, Pop/Rock, Jazz/Classical, Games DSP Control Incredibly SMALL yet POWERFUL EASY to set up and use

Without going into a diatriabe about why a subwoofer is important (it is perhaps the most important speaker in a home theatre setup), I'll focus on the SPL's characteristics. First of all, it is indeed small (thus the 'S' of SPL). The case is square-shaped, just large enough to fit the stiff 12" driver. It is very attractive with its faux-piano black gloss finish. Second, it does play loud (concluding the 'PL' of SPL). Not only does it play loud, but it plays low and accurate as well. Being sealed with a top-notch driver and a 1000 watt class D amplifier, this is arguably the most musical sub available at this price point. Other subs are louder and lower, granted, but aren't nearly as accurate or tight, and usually these other subs are 5 times the SPLs size. The SPL features all of the standard options you'd expect from todays subwoofers. High-side inputs, LFE, daisy-chaining options, crossover, gain, phases switching, etc. The SPL features great build quality. How do I know? I took mine apart due to a failed amp. But wait a minute...my SPL is an older version and Velodyne corrected the issues so you need not worry about the newst batches. Anyhow, the ciruitry is rock solid and no expenses were spared to ensure that the cabinet resists any rattling (to include interior baffling). Finally, you may enjoy great customer service. They repaired my failed amp (bought from an unauthorized dealer) for a very small fee in a very timely manner. Its worked like a champ since. I've spent a lot of money on my entire home theatre package; outside of the theatre chairs, this subwoofer is the heart and soul of my audio experience.
