Not Bad but... September 7, 2008 William R. Stockstill (Marietta, GA United States) ...for just a little more money you can get a subwoofer with more features. I am using the subwoofer with a Mitsubishi LT-46149 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Integrated Sound Projector. The sub has a good tight sound once you find the right volume, and really compliments the TV's 16 speaker 5.1 sound bar. The only controls you have however are an on/off switch, a volume knob and a high/low switch that I think changes the switch over frequency. It does have an rca input plus speaker wire inputs which is nice so you can easily integrate it with a TV like mine or a traditional Home Theater Receiver. The finish is nice and looks classy and the unit is heavy, due to the magnet in the speaker and its well built. It comes with a pad of rubber stickers to put on the bottom that kind of struck me as cheap yet functional. What I got instead was the Onkyo SKW 204 - Subwoofer that has higher watts, and not only a volume knob but also a knob to adjust the crossover frequency between 25-200 where the subwoofer kicks in. And it also has a standby mode it goes into when not getting a signal. The Onkyo is also more powerful and has legs attached. The only thing the Onkyo does not have are the speaker wire inputs.
Great subwoofer for high-end video systems September 4, 2008 G. Ware Cornell Jr. (Weston FL) If you are going to get a high-end television sound is going to be as important a consideration as video. For my new Mitsubishi LT-46149 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV with Integrated Sound Projectorit was pretty obvious that good sound is offered. But having a great LCD HDTV might not be enough. Mitsubishi recommended this powered subwoofer for its set. And it is a good recommendation. The Yahama subwoofer adds real dimension to the "Sound Projector" (essentially a high end surround processor). Without the subwoofer the Sound Projector performed quite well in my living room. Adding the subwoofer provided life-like sound environments that were well beyond my high expectations.
Excellent Value July 16, 2008 David C. Howell I'm very pleased with this subwoofer. It was simple to install, puts out a lot of sound, and makes a big difference in my system.
Great Sub July 4, 2008 webgnome (VA) I have this sub for a month now and it is amazing. Movies sound spectacular. If you have this sub and think it sucks, perhaps you need to upgrade your receiver.
The Sub That Doesn't Overwhelm July 1, 2008 D. Smith (Trapped in a Red State) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
If you want a sub woofer that doesn't "take over" this one's for you. It's size is nice and it's sound is smooth. The only negative is that the "on/off" switch is not conveniently positioned and it is an either/or situation with this model. (I just leave it on all the time because when there is no audio to amplify the amp is using virtually no power). I'm a Yamaha fan, so I'm biased; but this sub fit my needs perfectly.
