The Synergy Series Sub-12 hurls out enough power and bass extension to shake the foundation. It uses high-quality materials and the most reliable components to create a rock-solid impact that makes your movies and music come alive. The Sub-12 gets its intensity from a 12-inch, down-firing driver coupled to a highly efficient BASH Class D amplifier that creates 300 watts of continuous power and 650 watts of dynamic power. Because of its ample enclosure size and large, rear-firing port with flared ends, the Sub-12 produces increased bass response with low distortion. The subwoofer's built-in, steep-slope (24dB/octave) low-pass crossover is continuously adjustable from 40 to 120Hz. A phase control facilitates acoustical integration of the subwoofer with the other speakers in the system. An "auto power" feature enables the subwoofer to turn itself on and off (standby) automatically, based on the presence or absence of an audio signal. A blue/red dual color LED display on the front of the subwoofer indicates whether the unit is on or in standby mode.In addition to its ability to play louder and go deeper than anything else in its class, the Sub-12 features a new industrial design that is refined and aggressive. Available in a black finish with titanium accents, this extraordinary subwoofer matches the entire Synergy Series lineup in both style and performance.Because it wraps technical superiority and eye-catching cosmetics into one affordable package, the Sub-12 perfectly anchors a home theater or two-channel system.

5 out of 5 stars Great Sound for a Great Price!!   November 6, 2009
Mr. Pounds (Idaho)
I decided to do an all Klipsch-speaker home-theater system. I felt that if you wait for a sale, you really can't beat the bang-for-the-buck of Klipsch speakers. I have not been disappointed. This sound system is everything I had hoped for. I have run several sub-woofer tests and have been very pleasantly surprised at the capabilities of this sub -- both for volume, and quality of sound. My wife doesn't want to go to the theater anymore, because we have everything we need at home (without annoying people trying to talk on their cellphones at the theater during a movie!). I have a 7.2 surround capable Onkyo receiver, and thought I would get a second sub. I will be saving my money, as this sub puts out WAY more bass than I ever thought. I would definitely buy this sub again - and I would recommend it to anyone who was in the market for a home theater sub-woofer.

5 out of 5 stars Great sound   October 17, 2009

Great sound; only complaint -- it was confusing to connect to our existing system. But now that it is hooked up, we really like it!

5 out of 5 stars One of the best sub-$1K SW   October 15, 2009
TGav (Boston)
Once out of the box and set up correctly for my space, I tested this box with wide variety of music genres. The fidelity and "musicality" of the sound amazed me, not having heard the same quality except in much more expensive SW. The low to medium price range SW (ie, some Polks I listened to) tend toward a "boomy" monotone quality lacking detail, so for this price I have yet to hear anything better. br / br /Unfortunately my enthusiasm for rich wonderful bass was not shared by my wife; I sent this back after about a week and compromised for the SUB-10 which lacks the 12's transparency and richness. In retrospect, she was correct that with my current speakers (also Klipsch) the SUB12 was a bit overkill. br / br /While most would use this for home theater setups, paired with the right mains and amp it offers superb bass sound for audiophiles on a budget, be it classical, techno, jazz- it'll throw it back at you without sweat. It delivers much more than just bass for bass's sake.

I have this sub in my Great room(Living room, Kitchen Dining room all in one giant room) and it has no problems shaking all doors and pictures in the room. once I tuned it to my speaker setup it sounds great(Awesome during Transformers on bluray). The only thing that bothers me is that its pretty light, so when the bass is really going good, sometimes the whole thing moves from the vibrations on the hardwood floor and the feet make a popping noise. I solved this by putting my wifes Yoga mat underneath it. (don't worry, she never uses it anyways) br /I would, and have, recommended this sub to people looking for a great price/performance ratio.

5 out of 5 stars Perfect Problem Solver for Inadequate Bass Response   August 4, 2009

KLIPSCH SYNERGY Sub-12: Unlike most people who purchase a Sub-woofer to add to their Home Theater (HT) system, I needed a Sub for another reason. I had to replace my 25 yr old Integrated Amplifier with a modern A/V Receiver. One thing I didn't forget was to pick a Receiver with Phono input for my turntable (26 yrs old). But, I didn't realize until a few days later, after figuring out how everything else worked on the new component, that it did not have a "loudness" button on it either. I didn't think about it at first because mine was always turned on. I only have one pair of speakers connected to it; a couple of Klipsch Heresy's that I have had forever. These small box speakers do not have much low-end response, maybe 50-60 Hz at most. br / br /Well, the old "loudness" compensation would normally boost the low-end enough to be adequate for my listening purposes, but with this modern A/V Receiver, the speakers sounded very flat and turning the Bass up to its highest point didn't change things much. It was becoming obvious to me that the design of these 5.1 7.1 Surround Systems was that the designers really expect you to hook up a sub for "full-range sound" and that an adequate amount of bass response was missing from the standard left and right front channels even when I picked "Large" speakers in the set-up. So, off I went to the local Best Buy to listen to some of the models I found here on Amazon when I searched for Sub-woofer: Polk Audio, Klipsch, etc. My budget was $200 - $300 and I hoped the little Polk PSW10 would do what I needed since it had recently gone on sale for a substantial savings. But, after hearing the performance of the more powerful Klipsch models I knew I just had to have one. The local store was out of stock on the Synergy 10" so I was able to make a deal on the larger 12" model for about $50 off by complaining that I really wanted the 10" model they were out of (Oh Yeah!) I got the larger model with a 300 watt built in amplifier. This thing has been awesome. Very easy set-up, used the LFE connecter from my Denon AVR-2308 Receiver, and so far only have the sub at ½ gain on the volume/input and it fills the room with all the low-end frequencies I was missing before without being "boomy". I am only listening to music with this set-up. Home Theater is not quite as demanding as continuous music input. This really fills in the kick-drum and subtle, low-end Bass guitar notes. br / br /I feel this sub has all the features anyone would probably want: variable crossover from 40-120 Hz, High level inputs and Low level (line) inputs, LOW frequency response = 24-120 Hz, Auto power On/Off, phase switch, very adequate power at 300 watts continuous (600 watt peak), and a 2 yr warranty. br /
