5 out of 5 stars Great TV!   November 19, 2009
almorjalkbir (Monterey, Ca)
I ordered this television to replace a two year old Sony V-series 40", and I have to say that as much as I loved that one, the XBR 9 is an incredible upgrade. The picture is unbelievable, and the sound quality is really quite good when compared to other built-in speakers. I was concerned that the side-mounted inputs would be visible from the front, but they are recessed enough that it is not a problem at all. The Bravia internet connection works flawlessly, and I am able to watch my Netflix selections without having to route them through my X-Box now. The remote is also great, easily programmable and even controls all the features of my Direct TV DVR. br / br /I honestly don't have a negative thing to say about this TV.

4 out of 5 stars impress but not overly...   November 17, 2009

I upgraded from a Visio (cheap Costco brand). I am not absolutely sure that it has a distinguishable difference in picture quality. It has lot of features. One of the main disadvantages of having too many features is that it results in too many buttons. The buttons are not always intuitive. So it takes time to get used to. One major complain I have is with the agility of the remote. Channels can only be changed from the remote the TV is very slow to get the signals from the remote. As a result it takes several attempts to change the channel. Also the reception from the remote is not very good and so you end up going to the wrong channel. br /One feature that is missing is the ability to create a separate list of the channels that one usually watches. br /Among the hundreds of channels we watch only a handful, there is no way to isolate them so that one can see only those. True there is a "favorite" list. but one has to get to it by clicking several other buttons and you can not attach the discription of the channel to them. br / br /Otherwise, it is a good TV, other than the fact that it is a Sony, I am not sure how much of an upgrade it is.

5 out of 5 stars Superb   November 16, 2009

I bought this a few weeks ago for 1900.00. Consumer reports didn't like this a lot, rating several models above it, including LG's 55 inch LED model. They also said it had a worse than average viewing angle. Well, I love this set. The picture quality remains sharp at wide angles, thank you very much, so I have no problem there. The sound is fine for TV viewing, and with sports the 240 refresh rate really pays off.

It is a great tv with all the latest feature set and many input options. Setup is simple. With the latest update, Netflix is streaming in.

This is an awesome television. I could not be happier. Fantastic picture sound (amazing!). Lots of extra features. Can't wait until Netflix has streaming movies available on Bravia tvs (supposed to be available soon).
