5 out of 5 stars Great item, great price!!   November 21, 2009

These headphones will change your gaming experience! They amplify even the softest sounds by many folds without disturbing anyone. Though the wires are every long, it's a minor problem not worth mentioning. It has been a little over a month since I received and used the headphones and I have not had one problem with them. I would recommend this product to anyone who likes to play with the volume up.

4 out of 5 stars Slightly Muffled Sound Through Headphones   November 20, 2009

I absolutely love the feature of listening to the game sounds along with your xbox live chat through your earphones. It allows me to play late into the night without disturbing my family! The only complaint I have is that I can't hear myself talk through the headphones so it gets a little confusing whether my teammates can actually hear me. br / br /The cords are plenty long enough to be able to work without getting tangled so this wasn't really a problem at all. I was wondering how to make this headset system work with HDMI since it relies on the red/white sound cables to piggyback the game sound? The component cables work good but HDMI is way better on the picture so this would be a better way to play if I could get it to work. All in all, 4 star for the things I've listed above. I would buy it again and would recommend it to friends as well for the price point.

4 out of 5 stars The Good the Bad and the Ugly   November 18, 2009

I bought the headset for my Xbox. I heard that you can hear people sneaking up behind you with the headset. It is completely true. I play Team Fortress and I can't hear people sneaking up, or maybe I just don't pay attention. But, when I play Call of Duty World at War; I can hear them a mile away. I just bought CODMW2 and I can hear almost as well. I say "almost" because I haven't figured out how to turn down the in game music --- probably can't. :( br / br / Anyway, here is my story. I got the wired controller so i wouldn't have to replace batteries all the time. I kind of wish I would have gotten the wireless headset even though I have heard that it may sometimes get interference. The reason why is because of the cord. It is a very narrow cord. The plastic surrounding the many fine wires inside of it should be a bit tougher. When I had a heavy dog crate on the wire and accidentally tripped over the cord; the wires' insulating plastic wore through and frayed a few of the many fine wires inside. br / br / Now comes my wonderful experience with Turtle Beach customer support. I emailed them telling them about my clumsy nature. I asked if I could send it in and get it fixed and possibly upgrade to the wireless version. br / I was told by Turtle Beach support team: "Dear Matt, br /Thank you for your receipt. Please note that our Headphones come pre-molded br /from the factory and this issue is not repairable and your headset should be replaced. br /If you send the damaged headphones (with all of the available components) here br /using an RMA No. that I will issue for you, after we receive them, I will give br /you a 1/2 off discount for a new "Ear Force X1" from our Web Site at this link:" br / br / Ok, it is what it is. I am clumsy. Half off is better than nothing. I sent my controller in and waited. About two weeks later I get an email from Fed-Ex saying that I have a package on the way. I thought to myself, "why didn't they just email the RMA No. to me" then I saw the weight of the package and thought, "their sending me the old controller back and somehow I may not get the discount, or I may be getting a brand new controller. One week of ground mail and my package arrives. I open it, and what do I find but a brand new Turtle Beach headset! br / br / br / Well done Turtle Beach! In my opinion, It is customer support like this that will keep a company in business for a long time. br / br / Hope this long drawn out review helps, br / Matt

4 out of 5 stars Works Great   November 16, 2009

I wanted a headset so my wife could work in the same room while I'm playing MW2 and Gears of War. br / br /Plus: br /-The headset sounds great, and I don't have a home theater system so the headphones actually sound better than what comes out of my TV. It's a lot easier to understand the NPCs with the headphones. br /-The other reviewers must be deaf, or something is wrong with their xbox. I only have the headphone volume at ~30% and there is no buzzing or anything. If you max out the volume, you also max out the noise floor (or min, depending) and that is why you get the buzz. If you need it that loud, you probably have hearing damage. br /-The voice chat is great and is definitely better than the default headset. The "official" headset's mic boom is too short, so I have to almost yell for the mic to pick up my voice. This mic boom is much longer and totally adjustable, so I can just talk. br / br /Cons: br /-Wires, wires, wires... br /-Seriously though, your xbox is probably right next to your tv (like mine is), so you plug the pigtail into the back of your tv and plug the usb cable into the xbox and then there's only 1 wire going to the headset, and it's 18 friggin' feet long, so it won't get in your way unless you forget about it and try to run out of the room. (Hint: Instead of using the ports on the front of the box, there is a hidden usb port on the back of the xbox right above the power plug!). br /-There is also a wire that goes from the controller to the headset cable for chat, with independant chat volume control, which is nice. It would be nice if that went directly to the headset instead of the inline volume control, but either is ok. br / br /If you have the $ to blow, go spend $100 or more on a "wireless" headset, but you'll still need the wire to the controller for chat. I couldn't justify the extra $ just to get rid of one wire, especially when this headset sounds great. br / br /Now I just need a 52" HD TV so I can pick out the other players before I get fragged...

5 out of 5 stars Great headphones! ;)   November 14, 2009
Dads Dad (Phoenix, AZ USA)
The headset is great! I've spent more money on headphones for my IPod. I know everyone is saying there's a buzzing sound and/or static, but I only hear static if it's cranked all the way up like any other headphone. No buzzing. All of my online buds said that they could hear me better than with my wireless or the stock headset that came with my 360. This also takes NO BATTERIES as it amplifies from the USB connection. I've used it on all of my games and find that the bass it solid and the higher frequencies i.e. footstep, paper rustling are spot on. The headset has a control about a foot down the wire to adjust the volume of the 360 and mute the microphone. Also the piece the plugs into the controller adjust the volume of everyone on live. This is great as your thumb is right there to dial out a person's voice and not lose game sound or vice versa if you are the chattier one... it's your choice! The pads are snug on my ears I measured inside 2 3/8 x 1 5/8 I believe the price is right at $40-$50 considering the immersion factor you lose without hearing any game and the bonus of not disturbing the household (I game at night). I will be purchasing one for my fifteen year old son, as he always wants to keep his stereo up till past the witching hour. If you're a Dad who wants to play without waking the dead/wife/kids/roomies or someone who's asked in general to "turn it down" all the time... this is it.
