Product Description The XM Commander is an intelligently designed satellite receiver that works with all car stereos through FM modulation or direct-connect RCA line-out. It gives you a clean, elegant receiver option. Its ultra low-profile design blends inconspicuously with all automotive interiors. The XM Commander is a total system in one, it comes complete with everything necessary for a quick and easy installation.

Works for me! February 12, 2007 JD Binford I installed this unit in a 2001 Porsche Cabriolet. Unfortunately, the head unit was DOA, but Audiovox replaced it w/o incident. I have the antenna mounted on my dash and it works fine. I had to use the modulator sysem, which turned out to be just fine also. I wish it had three lines on the head unit so it could show Artist, Song and Channel (station?) all at the same time. Other than that, no complaints.
XM Trek Commander January 12, 2007 Robert Milner (Springfield, IL) Depending on your application, the Trek XM Commander is a slick way to do a custom install of an XM head unit. I previously had the XM Roady 2 and didn't like all the wires hanging out the side or the FM modulation mode - didn't seem as clear as the cassette input - which was even more unsightly. The XM Commander in my current vehicle - Acura MDX looks like a factory install and the direct connect into the FM antenna line produces very clean sound. However, I may purchase the direct connect feed and use the RCA jacks off the Trek main module (which you can hide away anywhere to connect all the wires). Like I said, it's a very clean and professional looking application. Oh, and the remote is great too. Especially for scanning XM or selecting stations without taking your eyes off the road.
The best XM receiver. Period. January 10, 2007 M. Hollingsworth (Texas) I own two of the XM Commanders, and I couldn't be happier. They are the size of the actual remote (appx. 1.5" x 4"), so they are very compact and will fit in places the other XM units won't. The sleekness of the unit also makes it look more like a factory install, and it's less likely to get in the way of any knobs or controls in the vehicle. It's also hard wired, which is nice since the wire can be hidden during install giving it a clean look to your interior. On the record, I also own the XM unit that fits in the XM boombox, and the Commander is easily the best looking and easiest to use. However it's up to your personal tastes and style, although you won't go wrong with this purchase.
great unit June 30, 2006 Charles I had the XM Commander professionally installed. At this time for my car the only option was with the FM Mod. The sound quality is good, as any FM station is. A unit worth installing. br /Only a few intems could be improved. br / br /First, the display unit could have a scrolling option so that in some cases you can see the entire group or song name. Maybe a smaller size font could be used. br / br /Second, the buttons on the display unit are so small that it is hard for full size fingers to find the correct one. The remote works wonders in this area. br / br /Third, the tune select could be set up so that you could select the artist or the song. As it is if you select a tune it is that artist and that tune. br / br /Overall I would certainly purchase the unit again. Well worth the money.
