Re: Blade Runner HD DVD

A good review for fans of this movie.

Alas, I'm not one of them. While it's visually impressive and the villains are very good,
I thought Harrison Ford was stiff and uninteresting as the protagonist. None of the endings
of the various versions worked for me either. The special effects started to become repetitive
and I got sick of seeing the same advertisement over and over. Like all dystopian futurist
films, it's such a downer that it's not something I want to screen over and over again even
in the improved high definition transfer. The picture has a real cult following and I suspect
my opinion is in the minority for this one. I didn't like "THX 1138" or "Minority Report"
either for similar reasons. If the future is going to be this dismal, who wants
to experience it before the fact over and over again.

For those who haven't seen it yet, it's worth watching once although I'm
not sure what version I would pick.
