| Re: Order of Calibration? Hi John and welcome to the Shack!
With my Denon receiver I would run the Auto Setup (distance and levels) and then I would try to get my sub flat with the BFD, no house curve, before running the Auto-EQ. The reason was to try to prevent the Auto-EQ from using filters in the sub frequency region. It was hit and miss. Sometimes I could remeasure and I'd have to adjust the BFD, other times not. I seems like I never got the same results with the Auto-EQ everytime which made it difficult to use.
The Denon would always reset the crossovers and change my L/C/R to large speakers and EQ the lower end. It didn't really matter on those since I would change the crossover back to 80Hz, other than it wasted filters below 80Hz on the L/C/R. It was still doing something to my LFE channel though... and that's what I could never figure.
I haven't used the Pioneer, maybe someone else has, but I suspect you might want to try it several ways and just see what's happening. You definitely want to check your sub response after using the Pioneer. |
