I have just obtained a BFD (can't get the DSP1124p in the UK anymore!) but have been struggling a great deal with REW and have a couple of possibly daft questions to ask:
1. I cannot get a proper reading from the SPL unless I unmute Line In in XP's volume control, which also sometimes gives me feedback. I am confused about the fact that if it is left muted, REW reports an input level even when the SPM cable is removed from the soundcard! REW mutes the Line In on start up but how then is it possible for the soundcard to take a signal from the SPM?
2. I can run a sweep that appears realistic by setting the input volume after unmuting Line In. However, I get a flattish plot that is around 70dB even when I mute my AVR! I can see the sound level picked up by the SPM hovering around 45-50dB when the room is quiet buy REW continues to plot a 70dB response!
Please enlighten me! I am using an onboard soundcard which is part of an Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard.
