No, but it's a really good point you make.

I've thought of changing this in the BFD Guide, or at least adding a caveat about it.

Listening in stereo, DD, or DTS does alter the level somewhat going to the subwoofer, and some processors allow for individual setups for these different modes. Some also allow (mine is like this) to save the sub level for each different source. So the CD input may have the sub out at +1.0dB and the DVD input may be at -2.0dB.

I guess the rule is to be sure when any mode or source is used that the BFD doesn't clip when at the loudest level you'll likely use.
