Re: Building an IB

Thanks for the comments on my work!

I think what Darren and I were seeing is the front part... not the actual part the drivers mount too.
Sorry guys!

I'm sure Rodny has already thought of a way to attach it securely so that there will be no resonating issues.
I going to predrill the holes on the two pieces of 3/4 MDF and plexi that way I can put the screws from the back all the way to the front piece, you wont be able to see the screws from the front, an between the wood, plexi, wood it will be some high density foam tape (weatherstrip) this way nothing will rattle.

What is the grey material you have stretched over the baffle (prior to your GRP work) which looks rather like a blanket?
The material the I used to wrap it is good old fleece.

Quote:
I betcha that material is trunk liner.
Sorry Sonnie is not trunk liner, I used the fleece because is thicker and stretch really good, sometimes I use t shirt material when building a small piece.

Which kind of adhesive did you use to attach it to the baffle?
There is no glue holding the material, when you use glue and apply fiberglass resin it will come apart, I used staples.

Your handy work is impressive... will you paint the fiberglass?
It will be painted black and then clear coated

Thanks again guys!!!!
