| New Subwoofer in the works! I just thought I'd let you guys in on a new subwoofer I'm working on at the moment. It's a sealed enclosure housing 4 of the Dayton RS 15" HO drivers. They cabinet dimensions are roughly 36"H x 18"W x 23"D and the drivers will be mounted so that two of them are on each of the two 36" x 18" faces causing the reactive forces to cancel out. This is key to keeping the cabinet from walking around the room. This is especially important for those having tile or hardwood floors. This driver layout also lessens the need for extensive amounts of bracing, but the cabinets will still have anywhere from .75" to 1.5" walls with .75" bracing. I just don't believe in building flimsy enclosures.
I'm currently building two of these and possibly a third. One will be for me, and the second will be for a gentleman in Orlando (who may opt for a 2nd at a later date) and I might possibly be building one for a gentleman in South Carolina. So I imagine after I get back from our little Thanksgiving trip to Georgia I'll be slinging lots of MDF dust.
If anyone has any questions about this design please let me know.
