North Carolina Here

I was asked to post something about myself, so here goes:

I have been playing with audio equipment since the early 70's. At one time I thought about going into recording/acoustic/audio type career, but some how ended up chasing US Marines around with big band aids as a Navy Hospital Corpsman. I moved from health care to computers in the early 80’s and I have been a database administrator for over 20 years. Now I chase software developers around with a bit bucket. Married (18 years, this week) to a hospital administrator and we have two teenage boys. We live in Raleigh and I work in Research Triangle Park.

I have had a chance to build a home theater over the last year. The equipment list is below:

Carada 110 inch Diagonal Criterion Series Projection Screen - 1.78 to 1
NEC PG-9100 (9PG Plus) CRT Projector
Yamaha RX-V2400 AV Receiver
(2) NHT 1.3A speakers
(1) NHT VC(?) center channel speaker
(4) NHT iW2 in wall speakers
B&W ASW200 subwoofer
Zenith DVB318 1080i Progressive-Scan DVD Player
HDConnection HDC1.1 Component-VGA Transcoder

I am real happy the way it has turned out, I am extremely happy with my picture, but a visit to a friend’s theater told me that my acoustics need work. I was led to this website by the Room EQ software. I have a sp meter and my external sound card is on its way, so I guess I will start messing with it next week. This is going to be a challenge since the room is somewhat odd shaped and has a rather large sofit running across the center. It is probably going to take a lot of trial and error, but I figure that the software output will give me a place to start.
