One sub, especially a SVS, will probably do, but two will almost always sound better. Subs are all about displacement, double the drivers and your subs no longer have to work as hard to put out the same spl and that means less distortion. ie an ib
BTW if an ib is an option I will side with the other guys and say go for it.
