Re: Review of the M-Audio MobilePre

I played with the M-Audio Mobile pre usb again last night -

Per a reccomendation on the forum, I logged in as administrator and was able to access the mobilepre's control panel from the m-audio icon in the lower corner.

I logged of and logged on with my everyday user id, and again I was able to access the mobilePre's control panel.

It was getting late so I didn't have a chance to do a full restart and try it twice.
perhaps all thats needed is to log on as administrator once after installation - that wouldn't be so bad.

I did notice something alarming -
I had a loopback cable from out1 to in1 - and it was reading signal and clipping.
appears that the driver defaults to seting the line out as an active monitor of the input - not good!
I was able to mute the monitoring and that resolved the problem.

Also I noticed that the regular windows volume controls had a "m" logo in the corner, and had all the correct volume controls.
The input volume also appears as it should.

I'm eager to do some measurements - I didn't have time to do any last night.
I typically run all my measurements very quiet - say 60-70 dB - and in the past I had a hard time getting enough gain on the sound card - I think that should be ok now, because now I can adjust the input level.

I paid around $80 for my mobilepre on ebay.
