It takes an awful lot to do this too... it's been a serious challenge for me. Friends I used to have... I hardly ever see them anymore. It's not because I don't care for them or don't love them, but when I'm around them I am tempted to do things that are sinful. I don't need the temptation, although I could probably resist... still, no need to expose myself to it.
And when you get really serious about learning and applying the truth to your worship and life, you find out that most of what is being preached and taught is nothing more than traditions of men.... man-made doctrines and such... wavering from the truth. If you stand by the solid truth there will be liberal Christians and superficial Christians who will ridicule you as well. Jesus knew exactly what he was talking about when He said as Christians we would suffer persecution because of Him. There is no mistake about it... it's a huge change in your life when you pick up that cross and follow Him daily.
