After you take your measurements, take a look at the "All Energy Time Curves" tab. You'll need to zoom in because what you're seeing is the time arrival of the speakers and the reflections in your room. Sound travels at about 1 ft per 1 ms, so you'll only need to look at the first 10ms or so. As you change the distance of the sub, you should see the peak associated with the sub moving back and forth. Ideally, you'll want the sub peak lined up with the peak from your mains.
(btw, since REW works on relative time, you're gonna need to have your mains and subs on at the same time when measuring. If it did absolute time, then you could measure one at a time which makes it easier to see).
